India warned Amazon for selling doormats bearing national flag on its Canadian website.
Foreign minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted such product on the shelves is insult to the country and cannot be acceptable. She threatened the company to be withdrawing visas of foreigners working for Amazon and entering India unless the products are withdrawn.
The minister added in one of her tweets, “Amazon must tender unconditional apology. They must withdraw all products insulting our national flag immediately.”
She added if action is not taken by Amazon, the country will not grant visa to the officials of the e-commerce giant.
The sale of such product came into notice when a Twitter user sent Sushma Swaraj a screenshot of the doormats.
As of now no reaction has been seen by the online retail giant after the warning of Swaraj.
Amazon also sells merchandise featuring flags of other countries including Britain, United States and Canada.
Currently Amazon is planning to invest $5 billion in India citing the rapid gorwth of e-commerce market.
