Harry Coumnas’ Take on 55 Cancri e, an Alien Planet Known for Its Composition of Diamonds

Since 2011, renowned scientist, Harry Coumnas has been researching on 55 Cancri e, an exotic planet which has been in news for its composition of diamonds. The notion of a ‘Diamond’ planet with an abundance of carbon interested this young scientist and he decided to study it. During a recent conference, he made many shocking revelations about the alien planet. He said that based on his study of five years, he can confidently say that 55 Cancri e is not at all glittering from inside. His statement came as a surprise for those who strongly believed that every bit of this planet is composed of diamonds. 

While talking about its surface, Harry Coumnas said, “Well, it is likely to be covered in graphite & diamond, not water & granite.” However, he stressed on the fact that its interior does not have even a single bit of diamond. He also stated that the hot planet races around its star at such a close distance that 1 year lasts only for 18 hours. For those who are seeing it as a potential habitat for humanity will be disappointed to know that are no signs of water on the planet. So, life is out of the question.
