First Lady Melania Trump is beautiful, fashionable and gorgeous too, but it is little known how inspiring she would be compared to Michelle Obama.

It is important to know becoming an icon does not only requires a pretty face and an international platform. Michelle Obama had no connection to the fashion industry when she became the First Lady eight years ago, but she is to be remembered more iconic.

Friday morning Melania Trump looked stunning walking into St. John’s Church. She was in blue outfit from head to toe equipped with knee-length dress, high-necked bolero jacket, matching gloves and stiletto pumps. Designed by American sportswear Ralph Lauren, the dress conveyed a message of class and elegance.

She was immediately compared to the First Lady of the 1960s who wore same blue color Oleg Cassini suit on January 20, 1961, when John F. Kennedy was inaugurated.

Cassini had the largest fashion influence of any American President’s wife until Michelle Obama, who wore a yellow-gold dress and coat by Cuban-American designer Isabel Toledo on January 20, 2009.

The dress of Michelle communicated her priorities as a public figure. For her fashion was not just looking good, but a way to express issues. She captured the zeitgeist in fashion.
