Ooids Don’t Result from Water Agitation.

There is little agitation of water in lakes, caves, caliche soils (hardpan). However, ooids are formed in these places as well as in seas, rivers, drainage pipes, and water treatment plants (note 1). Even ocean waves do not produce ooids (note 2). So, water agitation does not result in the formation of ooids.
