5 Jobs the Robots Will Probably Take First

Most of us refer to robots as something like the Terminator. However, robots don’t need to be walking talking pieces of metal – they can just be complex pieces of technology. Will robots eventually take over earth? It’s a common question that pops up today. We needn’t go too far out of our own homes to see how robots are already working in place of a real person. And as technology grows, it’s becoming evidently clear that robots are taking over more jobs by the second. So, what jobs will robots take first and put real people out of a livelihood?

1. Accountants

Accountants thrive on data and numbers to undertake their jobs, but as technology is growing rapidly, there are now numerous technologies in place that can do the same job for a much lower cost. Ultimately, this saves accountancy firms huge sums of money and it could mean that the need for accountants dwindlesin the near future.

2. Medical Staff

It’s apparent that the healthcare industry is short-staffed worldwide as it is, so robots becoming doctors wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing. However, we’re still a long way from that happening, but we already have multiple technologies that can correct eye vision and even cure cancer – so it’s already started to happen.

3. Delivery Drivers

Domino’s Pizza has already invented the driverless pizza delivery guy, so what’s stopping that technology from reaching all the other delivery sectors? Again, it could well be the technology that’s far away for now, but even Google has invented their own version of a self-driven vehicle, so it could be a lot closer than we all think.

4. Reporters

Article writers and reporters are frantically trying to understand how their jobs could be on the line because of the introduction of robots. However, when you look at the technology that’s already used to automatically update content on websites, it’s already started to happen. As algorithms get more advanced online, so does the automated software that’s used to create unique content automatically. Soon, content will be so unique and creative that authors and reporters may no longer be needed.

5. Salespeople

We only have to go to our local supermarkets these days to see the automated tills in place that have replaced real workers. The technology has been around for a few years now and it’s something that looks almost certain to advance in the next few years. Supermarkets will always need workers to help with other tasks, however that could lead to a huge loss of jobs if all supermarkets were to implement automated only tills.

Of course, the benefits of introducing robots from a business point of view is only going to reap further rewards in terms of higher profit margins. However, it’s apparent businesses aren’t solely looking at the bigger picture because, if no one has a job, who’s going to be able to afford to buy their products? Ultimately, this could push economies into a worse situation than they’re already in.
