LEGO Ninjago City: 4,867 Pieces, 2 Feet Tall, Most Detailed Design Yet

A LEGO Ninjango City model? NO. THE LEGO Ninajgo City. Well, at least the interesting bits that can be economically manufactured and fit economically in a box. The name may be slightly misleading, but the kit is no less impressive. Continuing his penchant for creating amazing LEGO build videos, YouTube user Bart van Dijk has another impressive stop motion video for the third largest LEGO model to date.

LEGO Ninjago City, is composed of 4,867 pieces, has a 24” (63cm) high, 12” (31cm) wide and 16” (42cm) deep footprint and features a slice of plastic life from the upcoming LEGO Ninjago Movie. Third only to the 5195-piece Millennium Falcon and the 5922-piece Taj Majal, this gigantic vertical building has more interactive parts than the previous two models combined and a build time of 7 hours 30 minutes.

Using some of the smoothest stop motion animation your eyes will ever see, Bart details each layer of the city as he builds it.

The first level consists of a series of shops located near a body of water. As a boat sails through the canals, you can see the little yellow people go about their lives, blissfully unaware of their creator. The ground floor also houses a taxi stand with a removable telephone, just in case Uber doesn’t have a boat driver on hand.

The second level features a commercial district, and includes moveable elements like a poster changing display, crab-grilling oven, and a working ATM machine. Bart even goes the extra mile to create a few scenes where the LEGO folk interact with the objects, complete with sound effects!

The highest tier of the model has a sushi bar (complete with a revolving sushi belt), radio tower, and an apartment for a LEGO person to rest in once they’re full of raw fish. The apartment can also be seen in the upcoming movie, and houses one of the titular Ninjago members.

If you want to see more fluid LEGO stop motion videos, Bart van Dijk’s YouTube channel has all this and more.
