Some Ooids May Have No Concentric Layers.

Some people say the spherical sand grains in Bagnold Dune of Mars are not ooids, for the spheres seem to lack the internal structures that typify ooids, namely nucleus and concentric layers of ooids (note 1).

Regarding nucleus of ooid, it can be seen clearly in the broken spherules of Bagnold Dune (see https://www.flickr.com/photos/fossil_lin/30445874495/sizes/o/ ).

Regarding concentric layers of ooids on Earth, “Some modern (and ancient) ooids partially or totally lack clear layering and have a micritic (very fine grained) texture. Examination of such micritic ooids by scanning electron microscopy often shows evidence of microbial borings later filled by fine cement.” (quoted from Wikipedia article
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ooid#Growth_mode ). On Mars, many ooids exhibit borings by microbes (see Martian Microbes Bored Holes in Martian Ooids.), so the Martian ooids may be micritic ooids without clear layering (concentric layers).

Besides, individual concentric layers in ooids of Earth average 1 to 3 micrometers in thickness (note 2). So, most of the concentric layers of ooids must be magnified 100 times in order to be seen clearly. However, Mars rover Curiosity’s MAHLI (Mars Hand Lens Imager) can only magnify particles to about 30 times (note 2).

Another important factor: On Earth, ooids and oolite samples are cut, ground and polished into thin sections before imaging the interior of ooids. On Mars, Curiosity rover cannot cut, grind or polish its samples.

The above explains why NASA’s photos rarely show concentric layers in Martian “ooids”. Even so, the Martian “ooids” contain apparent nucleus and show the unique exterior morphology of ooids of Earth. So, the ooid-like sand grains on Mars should be ooids.
