TECHNOLOGY NEWS, BEWARE----Facial recognition toll booths identify drivers and passengers, notify police within seconds

Facial recognition toll booths identify drivers and passengers, notify police within seconds

The state of New York is using facial recognition cameras to identify drivers and passengers at toll booths.

A recent article in the New York Post revealed that toll booths use facial recognition to identify everyone.

“We are now moving to facial-recognition technology, which takes it to a whole new level, where it can see the face of the person in the car and run that technology against databases,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.  (Click here & here to learn more.)

Police are also testing facial recognition cameras that can identify people based on the shape of their ears!

“Because many times a person will turn their head when they see a security camera, so they are now experimenting with technology that just identifies a person by their ear, believe it or not,” Cuomo said.

NYC’s spying bridges

Last year Vocativ revealed that NYC is using toll booth gantries to create a ring of spying cameras.

“The Authority is interested in implementing a Facial Detection System, in a free-flow highway environment, where vehicle movement is unimpeded at highway speeds as well as bumper-to-bumper traffic, and license plate images are taken and matched to occupants of the vehicles (via license plate number) with Facial Detection and Recognition methods from a gantry-based or road-side monitoring location.”

Police facial recognition to identify drivers within seconds

According to the NY Post, toll booth gantries can identify vehicles within seconds.

“License plates scanned at the toll plazas, at least, are already being checked for warrants, suspected felons, parole violators, terrorist suspects and  the intel is passed within five seconds on to cop cars stationed at the crossings.”

How long before NYC uses facial recognition cameras to identify drivers and passengers within seconds?

Currently there are at least thirty-one states that allow police to use facial recognition to identify people from drivers licenses and state ID’s.

Roughly one in every two American adults—117 million people—are in the facial recognition networks used by law enforcement, according to a 2016 report.

DHS and law enforcement have created an Orwellian nightmare in NYC.

Imagine a future where police install facial recognition cameras at two thousand bridges and tunnels throughout NYC.

Now imagine that happening in your city or town.

Facial recognition cameras and license plate readers are being used to create secret hotlists and watch lists that track our every movement.

It is time for Americans to stop letting DHS and law enforcement use 9/11 as an excuse to destroy everyone’s privacy.

Rental cars to use facial recognition to spy on your vacation:

Five days ago, IDEMIA announced their plan to install facial recognition cameras in rental vehicles.

IDEMIA and Omoove are combining forces to spy on car renters everywhere.

“You will never rent a car the same way thanks to EasyOpen solution that combines IDEMIA’s expertise in secure service enablement and Omoove’s experience in Shared Mobility platforms and on-board technology.”

They got one thing right, ‘you will never rent a car the same way’. Because now companies will use facial biometrics to spy on your family vacations, shopping, dining etc., in real-time.

“This year, both companies have just announced the introduction of a new process for the digital enrollment of the driver combined with facial recognition technology, which will be implemented into EasyOpen solution.”

Last year, I warned everyone that the Lincoln company has installed ‘complimentary’ TSA PreCheck biometric scanners in their 2018 vehicles. (Click here see how Honda’s 2018 Odyssey uses CabinWatch to spy on passengers and click here to see VW’s biometric passenger recognition car.)

Turning rental cars into facial biometric surveillance platforms is a privacy nightmare.

How will law enforcement use facial biometrics?

Avis and Kansas City to share rental car data, hopes to spy on 100K cars by year end.

According to Avis Budget Group Chief Innovation Officer Arthur Orduña their rental vehicles will share real-time vehicle information like their location, fuel reading, mileage and other operational data with Avis officials, Kansas City and their drivers.

“By the end of the year, about 100,000 of the company’s cars will be”connected,” say company officials, with the plan to install the technology on all 600,000 Avis brand rental cars in the United States.”

According to an article in 4-Traders.com, Avis will send Kansas City updates about their rental vehicles every 15 minutes.

Police use ‘Pay-By-Plate’ to “Hotlist” motorists across the country:

Police State America has devised a new way to track dissidents or person’s of interest, they’re calling it Pay-By-Plate. Raytheon’s Pay-By-Plate system will allow police to “Hotlist” motorists across the country.

According to the Boston Globe, officials are working with the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security to draft a list of all situations that warrant “Hotlist” use.

    What are “Hotlists”?

The Cincinnati Police Departments’, “Success in Automated License Plate Recognition Technology” report reveals on Page 6 what “Hotlists” actually mean.
    Terrorist Watch Alerts
    Amber Alerts
    Part 1 Crimes
    Drug Trafficking
    NCIC (National Crime Center)
LEADS (Law Enforcement Agencies Data System)
RCIC and other regional wanted vehicles (Regional Crime Information Center)
    Warrants, Stolen, Delinquent, Etc.

Police facial recognition smartphones will be used to create secret watch lists:

A company called Dataworks Plus has developed a portable facial and fingerprint biometric scanner for law enforcement.

The ‘Evolution’ is a portable facial and fingerprint smartphone that police can use to identify everyone.

“It is multi-modal and can capture fingerprint and facial images and is compatible with our RAPID-ID fingeprint recognition and FACE Plus facial recognition applications.”

Dataworks claims police can identify anyone “regardless of factors such as hair color, glasses, and image background”.

So the next time, you see a cop pointing their smartphone at someone don’t be fooled, they are probably using ‘Evolution’ to identify them without a warrant.

Law enforcement will use Dataworks, ‘Facial Recognition Case Management Module’ to identify everyone.

The Case Management module enables police officers to easily save and manage facial recognition searches.
build case management sessions with multiple probe images,
search for facial recognition results using multiple facial recognition engines,
add images from photos or video (integrated video viewer),
enhance your probe images using features such as pose correction and 3D modeling,
narrow your searches using data filters,
view probe and result images side-by-side,
include annotations and measurements of similarities between images for court and more accurate identifications, and
create reports based on your facial recognition searches.
Police will also use ‘Evolution’ to create their on secret ‘watch list database’ of citizens.

Dataworks claims that they provide ‘solutions’ to more than one thousand law enforcement agencies. And that their ‘solutions’ are so sensitive their employees had to pass comprehensive background checks and security training.
