Mercury is low in the morning sky this month.
Venus climbs higher in the evening twilight and meets Saturn on 11 December.
Mars climbs higher in the morning sky and is visited by the crescent Moon on the 23rd.
Jupiter is low in the western evening sky and is lost by mid month.
Saturn is low above the western horizon, it meets Venus on the 11th and is lost to view by the end of the Month.
December 2-3; Venus comes close to the globular cluster M22. December 11; Venus and Saturn close December 16, Mercury and Antares close. December 22, Earth at solstice. December 23, Mars and the thin crescent Moon close in the twilight. December 27, thin crescent Moon and Saturn close with Venus above. December 29; crescent Moon and Venus close.
December 5; Moon at Apogee, December 19; Moon at perigee.
