Farm Happenings

 This mornings garden pickins.  Not much of a bounty but it’s better than an empty stomach.  Wish the tomatoes would hurry up and come on.

Weeman figured out how to escape the horse pen where he had been happy all spring.  Now, he wants to hang out with cows instead of his old buddies.  He wanders back and forth from milk cow to milk cow and lounges around with the 2 calves.  I’m not in a hurry to catch him and pen him up, he’s so laid back and is behaving well.  So, now I have another yard pet.

This weeks farm markets were slightly depressing.  While it seemed like I did well, when the numbers are all down and expenses subtracted, it’s not as impressive as I would like it to be.

Counting the new part time job I am supposed to start this week sometime, I will end up $370 a month short.  That means I need to figure out how to increase my sales at the market.  Maybe a better presentation and a few new items to grab tastebuds.  I’m working on a new farm sign to try to draw folks in to the farm without violating any rules about advertising etc.   As usual, my mind is spinning like a top, working out every angle I can think of.  Just one more challenge to tackle, LOL  Life would be boring if there wasn’t something new to jump on from time to time.

Garden weeding and lawn mowing is in order for today.  This past weeks rains have made the place look wild and wooly.  The pigweed is as tall as the corn is!  Time to break out the work gloves and pull that prickly stuff out by the roots.  Maybe I can get some blackberry picking in too………
