But not just any old Madagascar bean, you’ll want to pick up the grade B bean, as it is better suited for homemade vanilla extract. They contain less water and although they are smaller in size they pack the same punch when it comes to flavor. The supplies that you need to make homemade vanilla extract are: vanilla beans, vodka and 4 oz bottles with caps. Cut the vanilla beans and split them down the middle.
Put three pieces in each bottle and fill the bottle with vodka.
Close the cap tightly.
let the beans soak. It is recommended that the beans soak for at least two months, but the longer you let the beans steep, the stronger the vanilla flavor.
Put labels on the bottles and they are ready to be gifted.

Hint- When the extract is getting low, all that needs to be done is to add a little more vodka, the extract will last a long, long time.
