The Jesus Bible

I don’t really love the cartoon-like Bibles for kids. I like to read to them from a “real” Bible, but it is definitely good to have something colorful. I like this kids Bible because it’s simple but eye pleasing. It has brown and reddish colors that are easy to look at but add a bit of color to draw the eye to a key verse or explanation of a passage.

Personally I think this is a fantastic choice for any young person. It’s the NIV version, and not one of the new little kid versions. Simple to understand but not dumbed down.

It has a presentation page, a “simplified Family Tree of Jesus” and a timeline of his life. There are some nice maps in the back as well as a “helps” section, including an index of the devotions.

I was given this bible free in exchange for an unbiased review from the publisher, and I was quite happy to get it. My youngest son, the delighted recipient of this little jewel, loves to sit and have me read it to him. A great start to him getting a knowledge of the insides of this soul saver for himself!

Look, the New International Version is definitely one of the more dumbed-down, watered-down “bibles” ever foisted upon mankind! There are whole verses missing, taken out, or half mistranslated! Please, redeemed ones, read this….

  Every “Bible” (from Biblos, an Egyptian Pagan Goddess) is wildly variant from the earliest extant writings, which were already wildly variant. This is especially true of the so-called New Testament. The original Torah, (instruction, guidance and prescriptions for living – not “law”, the scribes cherry picked Hebrew translation), however, is astonishingly true to the Dead Sea Scroll versions. Christians have no need for the Torah though. Their religion sees no value in God’s everlasting Covenant, His seven prescribed annual observances, or the everlasting sign of the Sabbath. These can all be replaced and invalidated on the word of one man who never even met the Messiah. Pretty amazing.
