Running After Baby & a Giveaway!
When it comes to following the 6 week work out rule after giving birth, I am always extremely vigilant. If something bad was going to happen to a person for not following the rules, it would be me. So, I always try to follow doctor’s orders. But since I literally ran myself into labor, it was really hard to wait the six weeks — I did, though, but it was hard. I was itching to tie on my running shoes and go out for a great run!
However, mother nature has not particularly been on my side when it comes to getting outside and running, so the treadmill has been my companion these days. It doesn’t matter though, not really, as long as I can run, I am happy, even if it is just in my house.
One Saturday two weeks ago, the weather was GORGEOUS! So I slipped on my Altras, strapped on my Garmin, and headed out on a much anticipated run:
“Running in disguise. Just in case my ill- fitting workout cloths decide to do something embarrassing, my neighbors won’t know it was me” -Facebook Update |
My pre-pregnancy clothes DID NOT want to cooperate. It was a little uncomfortable to be running along and my yoga pants are rolling down and my shirt wants to roll up exposing the post-baby belly. So my “run” looked more like me doing some kind of silly run-jig as I struggled with my running clothes.
But I still got two and half miles in.
So I won. Not the clothes.
I love my treadmill and I really enjoy it. .. but there is just nothing like running outside. Feet pounding the pavement. The fresh air. The me time. The nice breeze. Music playing in my ears encouraging me on. And the spiritual freedom I feel as I push my body past my mental limits and break down those “it’s impossible” walls I build. For me, running is only 10% physical – the rest is all spirit and will. -Facebook update
I have some running goals this spring/summer. I want to run:
- 5 5K’s
- 3 10K’s
- 1 1/2 Marathon
