A comprehensive comparison between treadmills and treadclimber

At the first look, you will consider a treadclimber to be a normal treadmill but when you look closely, this machine is just a little bit more with more features. A treadmill is a machine which can be used for jogging, walking and running whereas a treadclimber is a machine which is a combination of three different cardio machines which are the treadmill, the elliptical machine as well as the stairclimber. A treadclimber not only provides the motion of all the machines but also provides a combination of benefits. But there are many points of differences between treadmills and treadclimberand they are given as follows:

Design Differences

The first and the major difference between the machines are the design differences. In treadmills, there is a single moving belt which you walk or run on whereas in a treadclimber, there are two smaller belts for each of the foot. These single belts in bowflex treadclimber are known as treadles. These treadles move in upward and downward motion independent of one another.

Availability and Control

Even the low end treadmills have better controls and adjustments whereas treadclimber may not have those many controls. There are several well deigned and push button controls in treadmills to control the speed and intensity etc. but in treadclimber, one can adjust the resistance etc. through manual movement.

Adjustments

Another point of difference in bowflex treadclimberand treadmills lies in their adjustments or adjustability. The treadclimber has a total of three modes. You can either leave the tread belts turned off and the treadles unlocked. In this mode, the tread belts move down and up on their own like pedals but if the belts are turned on the motion becomes similar to that of an elliptical. Another mode is when the treadles are locked together, then the treadmill mode gets turned on. But in the case of treadmills, the adjustability is very limited.

Price

Where on one hand, a traditional treadmill is available at a price of around $1000, treadclimber are available in higher ranges like $1300 to $ 3300. This price difference is due to the huge difference in functions and benefits of the machines. Bowflex max trainerhas several benefits combined and is hence a little expensive but on the other hand, treadmills offer limited benefits and are hence inexpensive in comparison.

Features

In most of the treadclimber, there are several features offered such as water bottle holders, monitors for tracking heart rate etc. But they lack on preprogrammed workout facility which are provided in treadmills.

If you already own a treadmill and an elliptical and have these at your home gym or gym, then you may not need to buy a treadclimber but if you do not own any of these machines and wish to purchase one complete workout equipment, then the bowflex treadclimber is a good option but for a higher price. Hence the ultimate decision is yours. Whatever you buy, make sure you compare many options and take the right decision.
