Meteor Narrowly Misses New York, Causes Mini Tsunami
New York narrowly missed being struck by a meteor on Saturday night, which subsequently caused a small 90 foot tsunami to occur.
Due to the fact that the tsunami occurred in very deep water – nobody noticed. Some experts have criticised the government for seemingly not knowing that the meteor was at risk of striking a populated city – which could have had devastating consequences.
Intellihub.com reports:
A 2.6 meter DART II discus buoy operated by the National Data Buoy Center was triggered into “event mode” after receiving a sharp data spike then a rippling effect from abrupt tsunami waves as large as 90 feet tall, with a 180 variance from peak to valley Sunday.
The event took place 130 nautical miles SE of New York’s Fire Island.
The water depth in the region is 8690 feet deep.

Whatever happened with that buoy there was no tsunami and no other buoys were effected. It could be a malfunctioning buoy or my best guess something like these cracks that happen on land suddenly and with no sound over the past 10 years or so, happened on the sea floor under that buoy and it picked up the crack being filled in by the water.
Sigh. After the initial splash, as the wave spreads out, it gets smaller. Until it’s no longer so different from the other waves.
We can’t rule out an impact.
Although, whenever anything happens, we hear “softball sized meteorite” or “grapefruit sized meteorite.” And a larger object, moving slower –like space junk– could make the same splash.
The Navy could tell us if there was an explosion or an impact. Or a sea-floor geological event. The Navy has listening devices and computers for this.
It probably would have been larger than a softball or grapefruit to make that kind of a wave, even if it hit fairly close to the buoy. Then again, it probably wouldn’t have hit all that close or it would have been damaged.
I would like to see some information on how big it likely would have been, in a range, to creat that kind of wave and what it would have done had it hit land.

Who ever said a meteor landed? Like another commentor already said. A Submarine snagging the line is more plausible. No one knows what caused the bouy to alarm but i haven’t heard anything pointing to a meteor
