Television Producer: ‘I enjoyed every aspect’ of Shen Yun
CHICAGO—”It was fascinating. I really enjoyed every aspect of it,” said Christina Sara, a freelance television producer.
Ms. Sara saw the final performance of Shen Yun Performing Arts at Chicago’s Civic Opera House on Sunday afternoon, April 22, before the tour moves on to another city.
“The colors and the outfits and the animated screen, and all of the components together were fantastic,” she said.
“I was actually wondering who puts those costumes together. I don’t know if it was a team or just one person’s passion, but it was truly amazing. The coordination with the exact tone of what was on the screen to what they were actually wearing was fascinating. My favorite dance production was the Lotus Leaves. The pink and the green and their headpieces was just perfect,” she added.
In this piece the dancers use unique full-circle fans that sway like lily pads evoking scenes of a lotus garden in the summertime.

Attending with Ms. Sara was Joel Schmarje, also in the television industry and Host of the Here’s How, Right Now program on the Live Well Network in Chicago. The program teaches simple household repairs and basic home improvements projects with step-by-step demonstrations.
“I have to agree with her. All the colors were like a splash of colors or a wash of colors,” he said.
Mr. Schmarje said he particularly enjoyed Snowflakes Welcoming Spring. “I loved that. Because you have to dance, but yet they have to acquire skills in so many other things like throwing those handkerchiefs in such a way that they float and they’ll come back to you like a frisbee. Just amazing,” he said.
