‘We will never forget this show’

CHICAGO—”It is so gorgeous, so beautiful we shall never forget this show. We will never never forget it,” said Dr. Carmen Baldoza-Banez, a retired pediatrician.
In a rare summer appearance, Shen Yun Performing Arts returned to the Civic Opera House on July 8th for an encore performance.
“It is so very enlightening,” Dr. Baldoza-Banez said. “The songs had meaning to it. It has a spiritual entity to it. It’s amazing. It is in my heart.”
Shen Yun draws it inspiration from China’s 5,000 years of civilization, portraying values such as compassion, loyalty, kindness, and bravery.
Attending the July 8 matinee with his wife, Joseph Banez, general accountant for Harbison-Fischer Mfg. Co, before he retired, said the New York Times was right—that it it is like 5,000 years of Chinese history in one night. “I’m so glad that they had it in Lyric Opera House because this is really a very nice place to have this show,” he added.
Shen Yun presents classical Chinese dance that an independent art form with strict training in both physical expression and in specific postures. It includes leaps, turns, flips, spins and other aerial and tumbling techniques.
“The dancers did a terrific job and I know it is not easy … to synchronize all their movements. It is so awesome! I’ve never seen a show like this before and I hope they come back and show us some more,” said Mr. Banez, adding, “We now appreciate their culture and performing arts.”
Dr. Baldoza-Banez said that she felt using art to show spiritual truths was tremendous. She said that this performance showed that “The truth is always there, and you know good things always come out.”
