Another indication of a ballistic impact would be back splash or magma eruptions, back flowing out of the crater for years after the impact. Possibly for millions of years, for a impact of this magnitude. Consider the earth as a large round spherical container. The surface of which is fractured, cracked, porous. In fact the only thing containing the inner liquid, “magma”, is gravity, equilibrium and a thin shelled crust. Just like a m&m piece of candy. When you consider this, you also have to consider the laws of physics. One law of physics is you cannot compress a liquid, or a solid. You can only compress a gas. Any mechanical engineer will tell you when you compress a liquid in a sealed container you are going to have something give. Pistons break, o-rings and seals rupture. Think of any gas filled tank. You never fill that tank over 80% so as to leave enough headroom of gas to allow for expansion from heat. If the tank is 100% full of liquid, any heat which causes the liquid to expand is going to rupture or even explode the container violently.
The earth is no different, only on a much grander scale. You squeeze it, it will squirt molten lava out from the weakest point on it’s surface. In fact, I would be willing to wager that if one was to go and do a study of volcanoes since the Sumatra, Chile, and Japan earth quakes… one would discover a increase in volcanism and outflow. Which will continue until an amount equal to the mass that was displaced is reached. Consider the following quotation from NASA JPL News story dated 03/14/11……

Using a United States Geological Survey estimate for how the fault responsible for the earthquake slipped, research scientist Richard Gross of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif., applied a complex model to perform a preliminary theoretical calculation of how the Japan earthquake—the fifth largest since 1900—affected Earth’s rotation….
The calculations also show the Japan quake should have shifted the position of Earth’s figure axis (the axis about which Earth’s mass is balanced) by about 17 centimeters (6.5 inches), towards 133 degrees east longitude. Earth’s figure axis should not be confused with its north-south axis; they are offset by about 10 meters (about 33 feet). This shift in Earth’s figure axis will cause Earth to wobble a bit differently as it rotates, but it will not cause a shift of Earth’s axis in space—only external forces such as the gravitational attraction of the sun, moon and planets can do that.
Both calculations will likely change as data on the quake are further refined.
In comparison, following last year’s magnitude 8.8 earthquake in Chile, Gross estimated the Chile quake should have shortened the length of day by about 1.26 microseconds and shifted Earth’s figure axis by about 8 centimeters (3 inches). A similar calculation performed after the 2004 magnitude 9.1 Sumatran earthquake revealed it should have shortened the length of day by 6.8 microseconds and shifted Earth’s figure axis by about 7 centimeters, or 2.76 inches. How an individual earthquake affects Earth’s rotation depends on its size (magnitude), location and the details of how the fault slipped.
Gross said that, in theory, anything that redistributes Earth’s mass will change Earth’s rotation.”
In other words, the “Mass” of the fault blocks slipping inwards on the earths surface was enough to cause the earth to speed up it’s rotation. Just like an ice skater speeds up when spinning, as her arms are pulled in close to the body, bringing the mass inwards. —– Now back to my wager,… If that amount of mass was moved inwards, due to the fault block slipping down, causing the earth to increase it’s rotation speed… then according to the laws of physics, displacing that mass inwards, (compressing the mantel), is going to cause an equal amount of displacement elsewhere on the globe. IE: An increase in volcanoes and or earthquakes uplifting mass to equal the displacement downward from those earthquakes. That outward displacement will continue until an equilibrium is reached. So, with each massive earthquake, where a fault block slips ‘downward’, expect to see an equal displacement upwards. Simple law of physics.
Now back to our ballistics. You ever see what a bullet does to a gallon jug of water? Imagine the forces on the earth for a impact of this size. First you would have the back blast from the initial impact, followed by a massive back flow of lava and mantel flow. The crater floor would seethe and boil for millions of years. The earth from the compression of the impact would probably undergo world wide volcanism.

Wouldn’t you know, there is a guy that has been pointing out the actual impact crater responsible for the creation of the Yellowstone “supervolcano”. (yellowstone is actually a crater rim blowout) Beginning in 2005 this guy discovered the impact crater while searching for the cause of the destruction of certain areas East of yellowstone. This impact crater is about 1000 MILES in diameter. Measured from Yellowstone, west to just outside the line of Cascade range volcanos. This impact is responsible for the creation of ALL of the mountains in the Northwest United States. Not “plate tectonics”. To see this, use your favorite sat map viewer. Use Bing or Google. My favorite is Bing. The resolution seems to be much clearer. First, at least on the Bing viewer, Zoom in to level seven (from the bottom of the guage). Find “Eagle Cap Wilderness”. It is in the North East corner of the state of Oregon a little northeast of Baker City. Now un-check the labels box and spend a little time studying what you are looking at. Hint: you are looking at the “recoil peak” of the impact crater. There also appears to be a “twin” just to the north of the Eagle Cap Peak.
Now zoom out to level five. Focus on Yellowstone itself. Notice that just to the north and just south southwest of Yellowstone are the remnants of the eastern part of the crater rim. Follow the southern rim down and around to the west northwest. You should notice that the southern part of the crater rim has been “washed out”. As you continue north, look just to the west of the Cascade line of volcanos and you can see the remnants of the western crater rim. By now you should be able to see the entire impact crater. If not, go the the Facebook page “Black Hills Petrified Giants” There are some pictures of the crater that are labeled and the crater is circled. Take some time and zoom out, one click at a time until you can see the entire North American continent. Pay close attention to the northern/Canadian Rocky Mountains. Now go look up splashdiving on you tube. These guys make a sport of trying to make the biggest splashes. This illustrates almost exactly the dynamics of this impact. While you are at it, find the “four corners” area. This is where Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona meet. Go to level six and uncheck the labels. See the volcano? That’s a super volcano! Again, if you don’t see it go to the FB page to look at labeled pics. The Colorado Rocky Mountains were ejected out of this volcano. One other thing about the impact crater. If you look carefully you will find that there is also an exit wound about 2000 miles in diameter somewhere else on the Earth. This is all old news.

Thanks for the info above. But his information in your post is not correct. The book goes into extensive data about the impact, it’s physical effects, trajectory, how deep, and the relationship to the KT boundary. The book also gives reasonable proof that this was indeed a impact. Includes data on the ballistics, the impact site, and a smoking gun that was recently discovered tying the magma chamber at Yellowstone with the chamber/bore hole that was created from the impact. I hope you will read the book, and see for yourself the facts.

If the info is yours in the website that that was referenced in the first post. You were on the right track. You just did not have all the pieces to the puzzle. I think you, of all people will be the most interested in the book. As far as, “whats new”, in the post just above you by another ‘anonymous’. Well if I gave the details away, there would not be much of a reason for people to go out and read my book. So … The book will be out in a few weeks… it will cause the KT debate to rage all over again. And gives a new understanding, and awe at what Yellowstone really is.
