The Sun's Polar Magnetic Fields Have "Reversed" and will Soon "Completely Flip" Magnetic Polarity

The solar polar magnetic fields “reverse” and also “flip” magnetic polarity roughly every 11 years.  The solar cycle 23 magnetic “reversal” (at ~10 micro Tesla)  was early in 2000, quickly followed by sunspot maximum. 

 Solar cycle 24 sunspot maximum occurred 12 years later, in February 2012, and the solar north pole reversed magnetic polarity, from negative to positive (Reversal N), in June, 2012.

Vukcevic has been monitoring the progression of the polar fields carefully for years. He published a planetary (Jupiter and Saturn) periods based equation in 2004 which has tracked the evolution accurately.
 
 
Most recently this year, the north solar polar field attained greater positive magnetic polarity (>10 micro Tesla in this case) than the south polar field, constituting “reversal” (intersection of north and south polar low pass filtered magnetic field strength curves). 

 
All these events are shown here, though the latest “reversal” has not yet been identified as such with the appropriate dashed line:
 

NASA scientists are now predicting the “complete flip” of the solar magnetic field to be three or four months from now.  This will occur when the south polar field attains negative polarity (Reversal S).
