A 34 foot space rock (asteroid 2015 YB) will fly about 36,800 miles away from the Earth on Dec. 19th.
According to NASA, it will be impossible to see the space rock passing by with the naked eye because it will be too dim even in good weather conditions,  though amateur astronomers will have a chance to image the asteroid 2015 YB, which will be moving really fast to be tracked because of its closeness to Earth.  http://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/sbdb.cgi?sstr=2015%20YB;orb=1;old=0;cov=0;log=0;cad=1#cad

Monster-sized Asteroid is Set to Pass by Earth on Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve Asteroid To Pass By Earth December 24, But How Close?

Earth will get another holiday asteroid flyby when a 1.8-km-wide asteroid will fly closest to our planet on Christmas Eve.
The asteroid is called 163899, but is also known as 2003 SD220.
While its flyby on Christmas Eve is its closest to Earth for at least this year, the distance between the two planetary objects will be 6.7 million miles,
which means that the Earth is safe from any collision.
2003 SD220 is also moving pretty quickly —  about 17.5 miles per second.
the asteroid poses no threat to our planet, scientists say.

Both the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico and the Goldstone Antenna in California will be paying close attention to the Christmas Eve asteroid.
Some reports, however, suggested that the Christmas Eve asteroid will go to a distance so close to the Earth that it may cause destructive earthquakes on our planet.
Space scientists, however, were quick to belie this claim.
Paul Chodas, manager of NASA’s Near-Earth Object office at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, said the asteroid has no “credible” chance of hitting and causing devastation on Earth.
“There is no existing evidence that an asteroid or any other celestial object is on a trajectory that will impact Earth. In fact, not a single one of the known objects has any credible chance of hitting our planet over the next century,”  Chodas said.
