What Does God Think of You
Most people know what they think of God. They can tell you who they think God is and what he is like based on what they have heard, learned, or experienced. But ask them what God thinks of them and most of them will not really know. Maybe because they have a one sided relationship with God where they do the talking and not
the listening. Let’s see what the Bible says God thinks of us.
Genesis 1:27-28
So God created man in his own image in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” God saw all that he had made and it was very good.
God made us in his own image and blessed us. We are like God. Just like when we have children, they are like us. How much pride and joy do we have when we see our firstborn? The first thing you hear Grandma say is who they look like. I believe God was just as overjoyed when he made man and I don’t think it’s changed since.
He even said that it was very good. Then man sinned.
Genesis 3:17-19
To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, “you must not eat of it,” Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”
Notice here that when Adam sinned, God did not curse Adam. Instead he cursed the ground. Now man would have to work very hard and the ground would produce thistles and thorns. Before that when Adam was in the Garden of Eden, every tree was pleasing to the eye and good for food. It’s like when our children do something bad. We don’t hate them or curse them. We may punish them, but we still love them. In the same way, God punished Adam, but he still loved him. Man has been struggling with his sin ever since and throughout the Old Testament, they sacrificed animals for their sins. When Jesus came, he paid for our sins once for all by dying on the cross. Those that accepted him as Saviour became born again and experienced a reunion with God. Here is how that changed our relationship with God.
Colossians 1:21-22
Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight without blemish and free from accusation. Notice that WE were “enemies in our minds”. God did not make us his enemy, we made God OUR enemy because of our sinful nature. But now, through Jesus we have been reconciled to God. And now through Jesus, we are holy and blameless.
Ephesians 1:18
I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints.
God wants us to know that he has some great blessings in store for us. He is so delighted with every sinner that comes back to God.
Ephesians 2:6-7
And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
God has seated those that accept Jesus next to him in heaven. We are not there yet, but there is a place there waiting for us. Only a loving Father would do something like that for his children.
Ephesians 1:3-5
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ in accordance with his pleasure and will.
When you become a Christian, God blesses you in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing. Then he adopts you as his son.
Philippians 3:20-21
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
For now, we are in heaven in “virtual reality”, and God has already blessed us there and made a place for us. But when Jesus comes, we will go to heaven to be with our Father and he will give us new glorified bodies.
Ephesians 2:19
Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household.
1 Peter 2:9-10
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God.
When we are saved, we become one of God’s children and members of his household. We are no longer on the outside. We are part of God’s family.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
God so loved the world. That’s us. God so loves me is another way you can say this. There is no greater love that anyone can show than the love God has for his children. It is absolutely incomprehensible when you look at what God did so that we could be forgiven and have an eternal relationship with him in heaven. That’s what God thinks of us. He loves us so much that he has bent over backwards to do everything possible for us to come to him. He is a loving Father who is waiting for his children to come home and live with him forever.

We CAN shun evil deeds. All flesh is NOT captive to a so-called law of sin (Romans 7:23-25). We CAN DO what is pleasing in the sight of the Lord! It is a lie that we cannot do good, but the evil Pharisee Paul says he cannot do good because his flesh is captive to a law of sin (Romans 7:16-25).

God the Father loves me so much that He sent His only begotten Son in the flesh to die for me so that I may be perfect and have eternal life in His Kingdom. That’s what God thinks of me.
