The Veiled Doctrine of the Pre-Trib Rapture

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

By Dan Payne

As a thief veils his presence from those he wishes to steal from, so the Lord has veiled the doctrine of the Pre-Tribulation coming for His church. That may be construed by some as a loaded statement, for sure.

Of course, those who have put forth great effort in the study of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture doctrine may dispute its veiling. Indeed, for those who search out truth through the effort of study, and humble reliance upon the Holy Spirit, truth is unveiled.

It is of no mystery to the children of God that He requires us to study His Word.

“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).

It should also be of no mystery to God’s children that He wants them to understand His doctrines.

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you” (John 14:26).

God wants our spiritual fellowship with Him through the study of His Word. He stimulates and motivates us to study His Word, by veiling certain doctrines within His Word, so that in depth study is required to search them out for spiritual understanding.

However, those who are not His children are blinded to His doctrines.

“But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them” (2 Corinthians 4:3-4).

If those who do not believe can be so blinded to the first, elementary doctrine of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, just imagine how blind some can be to a deeper doctrine such as that of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture of the church.

It’s very simple, if you refuse to believe in the truth, you will become blinded to it.

Of course there are many honest, born-again believers in Christ do not agree with the Pre-Trib doctrine. Those believers are not seeking to devour those of us who do. I have to seriously question the motivation of those who focus the majority of their “work for the Lord” in vitriolic attacks launched against the hearts of those who hold to the Pre-Trib Rapture doctrine. Such attacks are an attribute of Satan, not of Christ.

I believe that the Lord hid or veiled the doctrine of the Pre-Trib Rapture from the eyes of the wolves to protect His sheep from their hunger. If Satan knew exactly when the “Thief” would come to snatch away His sheep, he may very likely launch a mass extermination operation to kill them off before their Shepherd could come to rescue them.

Of course, we know that Satan will launch just such an operation of extermination against all who refuse to worship him, during the second half of the Tribulation (Revelation 13:7-8).

Jesus referred to His own coming for His sheep as when a thief comes at an unexpected hour.

“Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect” (Matthew 24:42-44).

The Shepherd will turn the tables on the wolf; He will come at an unexpected hour to snatch all of His sheep away from danger.

“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up” (2 Peter 3:10).

The following is a quote from an earlier article written by me about the Day of the Lord, with the addition of some editing:

The Day of the Lord arrives as a thief in the night but it does not end as a thief in the night. The “day” is more than just a 24-hour period of time. It is not the same amount of time as “the evening and the morning” referred to in the creation chronicle in the book of Genesis. A lot takes place during the “day” of the Lord.

“But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day” (2 Peter 3:8).

When heaven is opened in Revelation 19:11, everyone on earth will see Jesus. His return at the end of the Tribulation will not come as a thief in the night. The “day of the Lord” will begin as a thief in the night but it will not end as a thief in the night.

“Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire” (Revelation 19:11).

“All of the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory” (Matthew 24:30).

The entire process of Christ’s coming at the end of the Tribulation will be very obvious to the world, unlike the process of a thief who does not want to announce his presence to those he wants to steal from. When Christ comes as a thief (before the Tribulation), He will only trumpet His Presence to His bride that He is “stealing” from the world. While Christ’s bride is caught up, the rest of the world will be caught-off-guard.

To believe in the doctrine of the Pre-Trib Rapture is to embrace the hope of its truth. And if there is one thing that Satan and his minions cannot stand, it is hope in Jesus. They engage in great effort to deceive us into believing that our hope is dangerous to ourselves. The Bible clearly teaches that only those who do notreceive the love of the truth will be deceived.

“And with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved” (2 Thessalonians 2:10).

Our hope is of no danger to us; it is only dangerous to those who hate the truth. It shakes their faith, it rattles their nerves. They are in danger when our faith is strong.

The danger is to the arrogance of their egos. They have to be right to stay propped up on the pedestal of their pride. We have to be right in order to properly instruct our hearts and to comfort the hearts of our fellow believers. We have to stay motivated to go about the Lord’s work until He returns. We have to continue to love God, and to teach and to love one another in His name.

The hatred of hope in Christ was no doubt the motivation behind the false teachings that led the church at Thessalonica to be so greatly troubled in their collective spirit.

The same attacks are being launched within the church today, with back-breaking strength. Satan and his children cannot stand your comfort in Christ. Don’t let their arrows pierce your armor of hope. Take up your shield of faith.

“Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one” (Ephesians 6:16).

After all, when we look at the near complete depravity of the world around us, what else can we hope for but the return of Jesus? There certainly isn’t any hope for the repentance of this world as a whole. The only hope that remains is for the repentance of a few, and for our escape.

If and when any of us as individuals, or all of us collectively, will or will not escape this tortuous place is up to God the Father only.

“Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4:17-18).

I know not when my Lord may come, at night or noonday fair, nor if I’ll walk the vale with him, or meet him in the air. But I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I’ve committed unto Him against that day.  “I know not why God’s wondrous grace.”

“I have to seriously question the motivation of those who focus the majority of their “work for the Lord” in vitriolic attacks launched against the hearts of those who hold to the Pre-Trib Rapture doctrine. Such attacks are an attribute of Satan, not of Christ.”

There’s no doubt evil’s part in trying to refute the “blessed hope” taught by scripture. We all know who seeks to destroy faith and hope, though these can’t be taken from a true believer. (Why they bother is the real question: it seems quite dumb, as only the blind, the already deceived, can be deceived in such primal matters of the faith. So what has the devil accomplished?) You do see in many of the opponents an evil venom, making statements like the rapture, though clearly in the Bible, is a lie of Satan or demons, Christians deceived, therefore, under the influence of Satan. I’ve seen foolish comments Christians who believe in the rapture will take the mark of the beast, because we don’t accept the idea of persecution or some such nonsense, seem to fail to see we believe what we believe, because it’s in the Bible, come what may, is simply and clearly right there in the word of God. (Note that subjecting Jesus Christ’s church, His bride, to the wrath of God, tribulation by His very hand, is contrary to the entire body of scripture, which also makes God look a monster, the type of lies and slander of God Satan specializes in.) I don’t classify the pre-tribulation rapture something veiled at all in scripture, would rather use as an example the Gog and Magog war of Ezekiel, where the timing of it is nothing that can be agreed upon, by even many good Bible scholars. Still, real Christians agree to disagree on such things, no venom, no accusing those with differing theories being the instruments of or deceived by the devil, no shouting rants. I’ve never known real Christians to behave this way in any discussion, ever. But I’ve seen many, many of these opponents of the rapture post clearly emotional, angry and hateful comments that seek to steamroll people, controlling and threatening, or demeaning comments, shouting, characteristics not of Christians, rather psychopathic and hateful people, people behaving like angry animals. It’s an important observation to point out the vitriol, how clearly anti-Christian it is, how these wolves in sheep’s clothing indeed show their fangs, and do so all the time. But I would hasten to comment that they really fool nobody with eyes to see, are actually more wasting their time: vitriolic trolls don’t change truths those truly in Christ see, things we well know. And all their Johnny-one-verse or Johnny-one-word arguments, oblivious to any context of anything, get so very old.

It’s not just refuting true doctrine, you also have all these atheistic trolls. What are they accomplishing? Venting? Patting each other on the back? Why do they even hang around spiritual venues? Do they change anything in a true believer? No. I don’t even read them, scroll past many names in comments and articles as being a waste of time. All they’re doing is displaying their restless conscience and state of war with God, their emotional need for attention and to bicker, another miserable day of spiritual blindness. I know they can’t say anything I could possibly take to heart, as you just consider the source. So what? What’s the point, even? It’s just sad, but it is what it is.

The “rapture” Prophets for PROFIT are ANTI-Christ DEATH CULTISTS. God/Jesus put you in this LIFE to learn “soul lessons”, to increase your consciousness to the point of Redemption. Hagee and his Ilk REJECT the LIFE God gave you, and dangle a “shortcut” in front of people, just as SATAN dangled Temptation in front of Jesus. Do not follow the ANTI-Christ lies of FALSE prophets. Their “shortcut” of cheating God’s lessons does NOT lead to Heaven, any more than cheating on school work teaches you the subject. Hagee, Robertson, the whole group, do NOT believe in anything except the MONEY they collect for leading their Flocks astray.

Matthew 25:41 Christ shall say to those to his left, depart from me you cursed people in to the everlasting fire created for the Devil and his angels

Then speak up the Christians who are on his left, they are followers of the false christ given to them by false apostle Pharisee Paul, and Paul presented his false christ to the world accompanied by great signs and wonders (Matthew 24:23-24, Romans 15:19):

Matthew 7:22-23 Many shall say to me in that day, Lord Lord we did many wonderful works in your name. We prophesied and we cast out demons. And I shall profess to them, I never knew you. Depart from me workers of lawlessness.

In Matthew Ch. 25, Christ says the righteous have works. The evil people do not have works.

Those who claim to have works for Christ do not have works for Christ, these are the Christians who think speaking prophecy and believing themselves to have cast out demons are works for Christ:

MATTHEW 23:15 PHARISEES AND THEIR CONVERTS ARE CHILDREN OF HELL

MATTHEW 16:12 BEWARE OF PHARISEE DOCTRINE

Along comes a Pharisee claiming to have doctrine of Christ, but he is a liar and he has many many followers, the Christians:

Acts 23:6 I AM A PHARISEE AND THE SON OF A PHARISEE

Acts 26:5 I LIVE MY LIFE AS A PHARISEE

      Philippians 3:5 I AM A PHARISEE

1 and 2 Peter are forgeries of the Pharisees. Why would Peter say earth and everything in it will be burned up when he knows Christ taught:

Matthew 5:5 The meek and the humble shall inherit the earth

There is no earth to inherit according to 1 and 2 Peter. Of course, that is not Peter, but Pharisee writings forged under Peter’s name.

If you are a novice Christian, do not fall for the trap of a pre-tribulation rapture. While all hell is literally about to break loose, the trap is thinking you will have an easy way out of it. It is in Satan’s interest to have you fall for this trap. Thinking that Jesus will rapture you out of here before all hell breaks loose will only make you cannon fodder for the Devil and his forces when all hell does break loose. Is the so-called Church ready for martyrdom today? No they are not. They are not ready to stand in their faith against the ravages of the beast. Do not be misled by what someone says the Bible says. Read the Bible for yourself. Read the 24th chapter of Matthew and you’ll see that Jesus comes for the Church after the tribulation period. Read the Book of Revelation and you’ll see that Jesus calls us to a patient and enduring faith during the time of the antichrist. We are entering the time period the Bible warned us about, the time the world of the dead will open its mouth wide for. The body of Christ should be in boot camp bracing and strengthening themselves in the LORD, preparing for all-out war, the war of all wars. But instead, the so-called Church is ill prepared for what will soon envelop the whole world because of this false hope of being raptured out of here before the tribulation period. They are oblivious to the sounds of war in the heavenlies and prepare not for what is about to happen. Because they have not studied the Scriptures, they will be sitting ducks for the enemy to take out. They will fall pitifully short in their destinies, to what God has called them to.

Do not listen to these false teachers who unwittingly lay a trap for you. Soon, the sons of God will be revealed and then the end will come, the Book of Revelation will play out on the world stage:

      /alternative/2013/02/the-sons-of-god-are-going-to-astound-the-world-2565258.html

And if you are a sheep that has been misled by a false teacher regarding a pre-tribulation rapture, I bid you now to cut out this nonsense of thinking you won’t be here and run, not walk, but run for cover in the shadow of His wings (see Psalm 91) if you expect to endure until the end, whether the end for you is martyrdom or the Second Coming, which occurs at the end of this age at the 7th trumpet.

      • Neo

Why do you think a pre-trib rapture is a trap? Certainly to any unrepentant person who thinks they are a Christian and that they will be raptured it is. “Not everyone who calls me Lord, Lord…”

I don’t think it is helpful to call fellow believers “false teachers” just because they don’t agree with your viewpoint (based as it is on misunderstanding the difference between Israel and the bride, and confusing ‘the day of the Lord’ with the rapture as if they were one event). What is there to gain by causing division over things not essential to salvation? The truth of the matter will be known soon enough. Either way I’ll be glad to see His face!

        • am123

The Day of the Lord and the rapture are the same event. You cannot justify a pre-trib rapture in light of the following parable by Jesus:

24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?

28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

          —Matthew 13:24-30

Because of false teachings concerning the rapture, the sheep are not being prepared for what is about to happen. When someone enlists in the army, they must go through boot camp to get physically and mentally prepared and they must learn about and train with their weapons if they expect to survive. But if they get thrown onto the battlefield without any training or preparation whatsoever, do you think they will last? No they will not. So it IS a matter of salvation:

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

          —Matthew 24:11-13

Only those who endure UNTIL the end will be saved. When the rubber meets the road, when given the choice to either submit to the system of the beast or be martyred for their beliefs, do you think most of the sheep today are prepared to be martyred?

        • Neo

That parable proves nothing concerning the rapture, I think you clutch at straws.
While I find the notion of Satan PROMOTING belief in the rapture to be utterly absurd, I respect your right to your opinion. However, we may just have to agree to disagree on this one. I think it is extreme however to label it the “doctrine of demons” just to dissuade others from evaluating it for themselves.
Regarding a pre-trib rapture, I offer this for your consideration and edification:

The parable of the tares (weeds) and wheat tells us that at the end of the age, at the time of the harvest, the tares will be gathered FIRST and prepared to be thrown into the fire and then the wheat will be gathered. So the wicked will be gathered first and then the saints will be gathered according to this parable from Jesus. But you are saying Jesus has the order wrong. You are saying that the wheat (the saints) will be gathered first and then the tares (the wicked) will be gathered. So let’s get a third opinion:

Paul said in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 to not let any man deceive you in any way, for that day (the rapture) will not come until there comes a falling away FIRST and the Antichrist is revealed. So Paul said that the Antichrist will come first and then the Day of Jesus Christ, or rapture, comes after that. But you are saying that Paul has the order wrong, for you claim the rapture comes first and then the Antichrist appears.

So you have Jesus and Paul presenting a certain order of events and you are claiming the exact opposite order of events.

For a Scriptural look at the rapture, see:

such attacks are an attribute of satan – does that also count for your negative statements about those who hold a different view? just curious if you see a difference

and I do agree the pretrib belief is about hope, but am inclined to side with am123 about the validity of pretrib “doctrine” (as you say)…there was a time when I would have taken your side, but after much research and bible study I am now of the opinion that it is complete bs

why would you want that anyway? Christ suffered, the apostles suffered, martyrs are venerated – so aren’t you supposed to want to emulate them? Does john 13:16 apply here? i think it is really supposed to be hope in heaven after life on earth, not hope that God will grant wishes or make life on earth more pleasant

The Bible warns us against getting mired down with doctrines. Whether the Lord comes before or after the tribulation is not important. What is, is that we are ready for His coming, waiting with faith and love. The ONLY doctrine that is important is that we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ with all of our hearts and that we know we cannot be saved without Him.

      • am123

Indeed what is most important is to be ready for His coming :!:

        For more on that see:

        /prophecy/2013/12/the-second-coming-why-it-is-so-important-to-be-ready-for-it-2456898.html

But I beg to differ that the pre-trib vs. post-trib thing is not of the utmost importance. For as per Matthew 24:13, only those who remain firm in their faith UNTIL the end will be saved, NOT those who remain firm in their faith UNTIL RIGHT BEFORE all hell  breaks loose :!:

For the truth on the rapture see:

He is the author and finisher of our faith, why are you so worried?

Galatians 3:3 “Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?”
          Proverbs 3:5-6

          New International Version (NIV)

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
          and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

        • am123

Why did Jesus and the apostles warn us so adamantly about being deceived?

“And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.”
          —Matthew 24:4

“For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”
          —Matthew 24:5

“And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.”
          —Matthew 24:11

“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
          —Matthew 24:24

We know from the Scriptures that the antichrist will come with his great magic to deceive people. We also know that anyone who is deceived and receives the mark of the beast will suffer the full wrath of God and will end up in the lake of fire. So it is vital not to be deceived. Hence, we get repeated warnings from Jesus and the Apostles to not allow ourselves to be deceived.

If Jesus is going to rapture the Church out of here before the antichrist comes upon the scene, why then did He warn us so adamantly about being deceived? If Christians aren’t going to be around for the great deception there would be no reason to warn them so adamantly about it.

The truth of the matter is this: Jesus warned us because we WILL be here during the time of the beast, for Jesus prayed this to the Father:

“I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.”

          —John 17:15

The truth is our faith my Christian brothers and sisters must be strong! We must be able to stand against the wiles of the Devil and his cohorts! It is only by the precious blood of Jesus and the words of our testimony that gives us victory of the Devil!

It is a matter of one’s own salvation. If your faith is not firm, you will not be able to stand until the end. And only those who endure until the end are saved:

“But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”
          —Matthew 24:13

It is imperative that Christians study the Scriptures for themselves. Read, pray, and meditate upon the Scriptures. Search the Scriptures diligently and do not rely on what others say for many of them will be, and have been, deceived, by this doctrine of demons known as the pre-trib rapture theory.

It would do Christians of today well to consider what one of the greatest scientists of all time, Isaac Newton, said concerning the importance of Christians knowing the end time prophecies. Newton drew a parallel between how the learned Jews missed the first coming of the Messiah because they were deceived and how it will be no less possible for Christians to be deceived by the antichrist. Newton said if God was angry with the Jews for not searching more diligently into the prophecies which He had given them to know Christ by, why should we think He will excuse us for not searching into the prophecies which He has given us to know the antichrist by, for surely it must be as easy for Christians to be deceived by the antichrist as it was for the Jews to reject Christ Newton postulated, saying it is as much our duty to endeavor to be able to know the antichrist and avoid him as it was the duty of the Jews to know Christ and to follow Him. I agree with Newton here.

The study of eschatology should be no small matter to Christians today. But sadly, many Christians today are indifferent and apathetic to eschatology because of this false belief that they won’t be here when all hell literally breaks loose, and so they are severely ill-prepared for what is about to happen and therefore in grave danger.

This doctrine of demons known as the pre-tribulation rapture theory has bamboozled so many so-called Christians it’s no wonder Satan has perpetrated this myth, for it serves his purposes greatly—the warnings of Jesus about not being deceived have fallen on millions of deaf ears!

The antichrist is coming to deceive the whole world if he can. Woe unto those who are not ready!

“The Veiled Doctrine of the Pre-Trib Rapture”

Since when has fictitious meant veiled? There is no ‘Rapture’ it means ecstasy. Being caught up in the air with = caught up with an idea. Not being literally floated up into the air.

I am a Believer in Christ Jesus. From reading Matthew 24, I see that Jesus goes to great lengths in explaining to His disciples about when He is to return. It truly appears that His Church will have to endure some serious tribulation before He returns with His wrath and judgement. I fear that the reason many will turn on their brethren in last days is because they trusted in a pre-trib false doctrine ushered in by Scofield and Darby around the 1830′s.
I share my thoughts respectfully and humbly.

Competent theologians have long since condemned the pre-trib “rapture” as heresy. By promoting heresy, Rolls renders himself a heretic. And a rather nauseating and monotonous one as well.

What competent theologians, liar? And “renders himself a heretic”? Do we have a mackerel snapper here? Taking a break from Mary worship?

Go back to reading your Latin Bible, upside down.
