Two Aphrodites

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

In Greek mythology, there are two Aphrodites: one, the “Heavenly Aphrodite”, is the motherless daughter of Uranus (the primeval grandfather of Zeus); the other, the “Terrestrial Aphrodite”, is the daughter of Zeus and Dione. Eros often accompanies the Terrestrial Aphrodite, while Hermes (the Logos) accompanies the Celestial Aphrodite. Of course, these are really just two expressions, two sides, of one principle.

The “Celestial” or “Heavenly” Aphrodite, the higher-level goddess Aphrodite, has the role of releasing (unbinding) perfected souls from their imprisoning bodies, into the bliss of eternity. The role of the lower “Terrestrial” or “Earthly” Aphrodite, is to bind unperfected souls into the body. Both can be seen as “births”.

      Nope.

“The role of the lower “Terrestrial” or “Earthly” Aphrodite, is to bind unperfected souls into the body.”

      Nope.

“Both can be seen as “births”.

Yep, the same birth, they represent two aspects of the same thing. A common ancient theme (6’000 years ago ancient), and shared throughout the middle east, Africa, Turkey, Greece, Iran, Iraq, even Europe. El (god) originally had two wives, the Elohim. El is singular and masculine, Elohim is plural and feminine. The original story tells that El (the sun) was out hunting one day, (shinning his light), when he came across two female goddesses, Asherah and Rhomerah (dusk and dawn). He cooked them a meal (provided the right ingredients for life on Earth), then asked them if they wanted to remain his daughters (dusk and dawn are products of sunlight on Earth), or become his wives (produce life). The both agreed to become his wives. The union begat El’s only son Baal, the god of weather, crops and abundance. Sunlight on Earth most definitely causes weather, which is another story with another character with two faces.

Dusk represents sex, the act of procreation, there are many references to Dusk, eg Jerusalem literally translates as ‘City of Dusk’, and is regarded as the ‘City of Love’. The song of Solomon with his hundreds of wives and concubines, is all about the joys and wonders of love making.

Dawn represents the morning after the night before’s romp, pregnancy. There are a many really ancient figurings of Earth mothers, (c24.000 years old).
