Magic School: Magic, Witchcraft & Religion at City Lit

City Lit, in London, is running a five-week summer course called Magic, Witchcraft and Religion.

This isn’t a course in how to be a witch, it is a way of exploring the world of magic and witchcraft and its relation to religion using cross-cultural perspectives. Examples from contemporary as well as ancient societies will be given, so it will cover Wicca and modern pagan witchcraft as well as witchcraft in history.

Magic, Witchcraft and Religion is intended as a taster course that focuses upon phenomena categorised as “religion” and the closely related concept of belief in the supernatural. It approaches these topics from the perspectives of anthropology and archaeology.

The lessons are on Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 8pm, starting on 22 July 2015 and finishing on 19 August. They take place at City Lit, Keeley Street, Covent Garden, Camden, London WC2B 4BA.
