The word itself derives (through Old French) from the Latin word mansio “dwelling”, an abstract noun derived from the verb manere “to dwell”. Now if ‘mansion’ is truly the proper translation from Greek into English…then WHY near the end of John chapter 14 is the very same Strong’s Greek word #3438 (moné: an abiding, an abode) rendered ‘abode’ which is precisely correct and these are the ONLY TWO uses of #3438 in the entire New Testament!
I guess your ‘mansion’ wouldn’t comfortably fit inside the human body…
