Searching for Non-Christmas Season's Greetings Cards

Every years I bemoan the fact that it is really difficult to get appropriate cards to send to friends and family members at Yule.

As a pagan, I call the midwinter festival Yule or the Winter Solstice rather than Christmas. I usually buy specifically pagan cards for my pagan friends – and they can be bought from specialist shops, but for those who aren’t actually pagans I like to buy charity cards that say something neutral. Every year nice cards that just say “Season’s Greetings” are hard to find. However, if you are still looking for suitable cards to buy, here are a few I have found this year.

I’m not sure if it is actually a charity, but the Humanist society does rather a good range of festive season cards that are blank inside. One of them shows pine cones that naturally grow in Fibonacci spirals – a form of the ‘golden ratio’ that pervades nature, mathematics and art. The charity Sense, for deafblind people, seems to offer quite a good range of cards that have non-religious themes and say Season’s Greetings inside. One example is the picture of glass tree decorations, pictured above. You can get a pack of 10 cards for £2.99. The card sizes are 12cm by 17cm. Cancer Research is offering a pack of 10 cards called Snowy Robin (pictured left), priced at £2.99. Each card measures 150x150mm in size and the greeting inside reads: “Season’s Greetings”. All of the profits from the sale go to life-saving research. You can order packs here: giftshop.cancerresearchuk.org/

The RSPCA has a really lovely double pack of cards, some showing an owl and some a hare against a full moon. They cost £3.50 for a pack of 12. You can see them and find the details here: shop.rspca.org.uk

The Woodland Trust, as you might expect from a charity that supports woodland conservation, has some really nice winter scenes showing trees and suchlike. The image below comes from a card called Cold Winter. A pack of eight costs £3.95 and each card measures 11.4cm by 16cm. You can order it here: www.woodlandtrustshop.com
