Review: Pagan Portals - Celtic Witchcraft

There are many introductory books about witchcraft around, but few are as original, inspiration and well written as Pagan Portals – Celtic Witchcraft. It is not yet another Wicca 101 book, neither is it an attempt to reconstruct what ancient Celtic witches practised. Instead it takes inspiration from Celtic tales and the Celtic world view to offer a guide in ways to work magic in harmony with the seasons, the land and the forces of nature. The book has the subtitle Modern Witchcraft meets Celtic Ways.

I was delighted to be asked to write an endorsement for the back cover before it went to press. I said: “I love this book by Mabh Savage. Pagan Portals – Celtic Witchcraft offers a fascinating glimpse into the magic of nature, the gods and goddesses, and the beliefs of the past. It shows how we can adapt the wisdom of the Celts to practise witchcraft in the modern world.”

The exercises within the book are practical and thought-provoking. They could be combined with Wiccan training quite easily, but would also be a wonderful introduction for anyone wanting find their own solitary path into a world of magic.
