Miami, FL – The Super Bowl is finally here and Vegas has more betting lines than you can count. One of the favorites is the winner of the coin toss.

The Super Bowl 2010 winners may not be determined by the coin toss results. History tells us that the Super Bowl coin toss results will not give either team a decided edge in the outcome of the game.

Since the first Super Bowl played in 1967 between the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs the winner of the coin toss has only won 48.8% of the time. Thus, one could draw the conclusion that the loser of the coin toss may have a razor thin edge over the winner of the coin toss.

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots lost all four coin tosses but went on to win 3 out of 4 Super Bowls.

The Pittsburgh Steelers lost the coin toss in their last two Super Bowl appearances but went on to win the games.

Heads or Tails?

Interestingly, the last 12 straight coin toss results went in favor of the NFC team.
