Younis Khan quits after rift with umpire

Pakistan Senior batsman Younis Khan had left the tournament after match referee Aziz Rehman fined and summoned him for a disciplinary hearing. The batsman who is the captain of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa team, one of the five teams in the tournament, will now face a level 3 code of conduct breach and could face a ban of upto 5 matches.

According to media reports, Younis Khan was fined 50% of his match fee for breaching the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) domestic code of conduct by speaking against the umpiring standards.

According to Hindustan Times, “The PCB chairman Shahryar Khan is unhappy the most at the fact that Younis quit the tournament since he is also an advisor to the chairman on cricket affairs like Misbah-ul-Haq,” the source said.

Angry on umpire’s decision, Younis has reportedly decided to quit the tournament in the middle. However, Opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad has been confirmed new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa captain.

The manager of the KPK team, Mukhtar Hussain, confirmed that Younis had left for home and Test batsman Ahmed Shehzad would now lead the team in the prestigious competition being televised live and being played under lights.
