Baltimore Ravens Fantasy Football Values Get a Lift: Marty Mornhinweg Replacing Marc Trestman

The Baltimore Ravens have had enough. After scoring just 10 points in a loss to the Washington Redskins, they decided to move on from Marc Trestman and turn the play calling over to Marty Mornhinweg.

Baltimore is averaging 338.2 total yards and 18.8 points per game, both of which are in the bottom third in the league in this young season.

Joe Flacco, who expressed his frustration in Trestman’s play calling, should benefit by a change in philosophy that plays to his strength of utilizing the deep ball. Flacco is averaging 43.2 pass attempts per game, but is averaging just 5.9 yards per attempt.

Mike Wallace, who has 21 receptions for 273 yards and three touchdowns, should also benefit from a more wide open offensive scheme. He’s a burner that is better suited for the deep ball than a dink-and-dunk approach. After recording 132 yard and three touchdowns in his first two games (66 ypg) with the Ravens, he’s been limited to 141 yards the past three games (47 ypg).

Terrance West and Kenneth Dixon should also benefit from an offense more likely to spread it out. In windy conditions West only toted the pigskin 11 times despite averaging 8.6 yards per carry. It wasn’t like the Ravens were in comeback mode as it was a 16-10 game in which Baltimore lead 10-6 at halftime. Dixon had three carries in his NFL debut. He figures to take on a more productive role going forward.

Steve Smith left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. He leads the Ravens with 310 yards on  27 receptions. His value should remain stable as long as he doesn’t lose time to injury. Dennis Pitta, 28 catches for 259 yards, should also continue to produce.
