It’s Lambeau Clock

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Get it? Like Lambeau O’Clock? But Lambeau Clock?

Yeah, I’m sorry. Forget it. Let’s just get straight to the stats, notes, quotes, and more to get you ready for Ravens/Packers, c/o Casa Mia’s White Marsh.

KNOW THY ENEMY

SERIES HISTORY

QUOTES OF THE WEEK

QB Joe Flacco on opportunity:

“There is a lot of opportunity out there. We can’t dwell on the fact that we are 4-5. We can’t go back and change that. It is what it is, and we have to put that out of our mind the best we can. We have to have a short memory and just go out there and play football. We can’t look ahead that far either, because when you start doing that, and you start trying to look at the big picture of everything every single day, that just wears on you mentally. It is just too much for us to handle. We have to take it one week at a time. It is cliché as it can be, but we have to do that. We have to look at what is important now, and for us, that is the Green Bay Packers.”

John Harbaugh on OLB Terrell Suggs:

“He’s had a great year. I joke with him that he’s found – I call him [Juan] Ponce de León – the Fountain of Youth. He’s really worked hard, he’s really put in the effort, and he continues to do it day-in and day-out, week-in, weekout. He takes care of himself, working hard in the weight room, doing all the things you need to do. Then, the fact that he’s also an amazing athlete, you can’t look past that. He’s one of the rare types of human beings walking around the planet right now, so he’s a pretty special guy.”

Offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris on C Ryan Jensen:

“Ryan has done a very nice job. He has taken ownership of [the center position]. He started in OTAs, and he has continued right now. He is a vocal leader up front and helps guide and direct those linemen and the running backs and tight ends. Like I said, he has taken great ownership, and I see great progress with him each week. … He is at the middle of everything. He is the guy that communicates. Your guards do, too, but your center really has to do it. I always say the center is the eyes and voice of the coach. As the line coach, you want him communicating, directing, guiding and leading. You are not there, so someone else has to take charge. He does a wonderful job in that area.”

Linebackers coach Don “Wink” Martindale on if LB C.J. Mosley is playing at an all-time high level:

“Yes. I think it is his all-around game. I always talk to the young guys about waiting until you get your ‘old man, dad strength.’ You know what I am talking about with that, when they hit that age. I think you are seeing him take a different leadership role. I know he is quiet. I know he is quiet in interviews. I know he is quiet in the cafeteria. But on the field, he is not quiet, and you can hear him play instead of seeing him play with the hits that he is delivering out there.”

Senior offensive assistant/tight ends coach Greg Roman on the Ravens’ 10th-ranked rushing attack:

“The guys are working very hard at it. We’re constantly reaching to find a level of consistency that we want to have. The guys have done a great job up until this point. They’re really applying themselves, learning new stuff, and going out week to week and executing it. Every week is a different challenge. We want to build a run game that could adapt each week, to each different opponent. There are always things that we can improve on, but up until this point, I’m really happy with how the guys are working at it.”

GETTING TO KNOW YOU ~ Q&A with Ryan Jensen

How does your playing style fit the Ravens organization?

“Baltimore has always been known for hard-nosed defense and being physical. I feel like the way I play brings that tone to the offense. The AFC North has always been known for a physical style of play, so I knew what I was in for.”

Talk about being in martial arts when you were younger:

“I did Taekwondo and was actually a two-time national medalist in the Junior Olympics for sparring when I was 12 and 13. I won the silver and bronze. My whole family is into it. My older brother was a gold medalist in the Junior Olympics for sparring. My dad is a fifth-degree blackbelt, and my mom is a third-degree blackbelt.”

When did you realize you could play in the NFL?

“My O-line coach came up to me my junior year of college and said, ‘You’ve gotten a lot better from your freshman year.’ He told me to go out and play my style of football, and I would get noticed. He told me he truthfully thought I could get a NFL tryout. My senior year, he said, ‘If you keep playing the way you are, you’ll get a legitimate shot, not just a tryout.’”

When did you realize the physicality of the NFL?

“My rookie year lining up against Haloti [Ngata] for the first time. It came at me pretty quickly. After playing at a D-II school, where the biggest guy I played against was maybe 280 pounds, now, all of a sudden, here is Haloti at 330 or 340, and not just big, but athletic and strong.”

When is the most excited you have ever been to meet someone?

“I haven’t met too many famous people. I will say, I met the guys from the television show ‘Nitro Circus,’ Tommy Passemante and Travis Pastrana. I grew up watching these guys do crazy stuff, and the first time I met them, I was trying not to go too crazy.”

What’s been your inspiration to grow out your long hair?

“When I first started growing it, I was actually going to donate it to ‘Locks of Love’ or a place like that. But once it got long, I started playing really well. It became one of those, ‘If it’s not broke, don’t fix it’ things.”

Who’s your favorite athlete ever?

“Growing up in Colorado, I loved hockey, and the Avalanche had a guy named Scott Parker. He was such a goon and the enforcer. Maybe it was because he had red hair, but he was the guy who was going to go out there and protect his guys. I also loved Bill Romanowski – until he went to the Raiders.”

What makes you so passionate about protecting your teammates?

“We are with each other so much that all of us are family. Growing up, I was always taught to protect your family, no matter the situation.”

LAUGH OF THE WEEK AT EXPENSE OF RAVENS’ OPPONENT

Nah…the Packers will always have a special place in my heart, as will any team who denies those idiot Yinzers a ring.
