Bullpen Notes: April 27, 2018: Holland’s Latest Implosion, Could Iglesias/Middleton Be In Danger & More
Are you following @Rotoprofessor on Twitter? If not you should be, as we Tweet out all the important bullpen notes every morning from the previous day’s games. Who is in jeopardy of losing their job? Who is worth the speculative add? Here are this morning tweets (Please note we won’t be posting these on the website every day, so make sure you follow @Rotoprofessor to ensure you don’t miss a thing):
STL: Holland happens again, allowing 3 R (2 earned) on 3 H without getting an out. It’s his 1st official BSV and defense obviously hurt, but a massive step back after it appeared he had fixed issues. Norris could see next opp but both should be owned #MLB #FantasyBaseball #roto

CIN: It was non-SV but Iglesias stumbled for 2nd straight outing (2 R/3 H/3 BB/2 K/1.2 IP). The bigger issue is his sudden struggles with his control (7 BB over last 6.0 IP) & for that needs to be on our watch lists #MLB #FantasyBaseball #closers

ARI: Hirano (3 K), Bradley (1 K) & Boxberger (1 K) combine for 3 perfect IP to lock down game. Boxberger has stumbled recently in non-SV, but has yet to have BSV & while Bradley has highest upside no change looming #MLB #FantasyBaseball #closers

TB: We are not about to call Colome “back” but has now strung together 4 straight scoreless outings (3 H/0 BB/6 K). We’ll continue watching, but those hoping to sneak a few SV from Romo can look to move on #MLB #FantasyBaseball #closers

LAA: Middleton charged w/1st BSV (1.0 IP/1 R/1 H/2 BB/1 K), but does have unimpressive 1.27 WHIP and has struggled over past two outings (2 H/3 BB). Should still get opps, but another stumble could lead to removal from role #MLB #FantasyBaseball #closers

CWS: Jones enters in the 7th w/Soria being held back & ultimately earns SV (1.0 IP/1 H). While the former still has the higher upside & had looked to be taking over, Soria appears to be “the man” for now #MLB #FantasyBaseball #closers

SF: Strickland earns SV w/2 K. Suddenly up to 6 SV courtesy of 1.50 ERA, 0.92 WHIP & 13 K vs. 3 BB. Biggest issue was lack of opps & even when Melancon returns, he should remain the closer #MLB #FantasyBaseball #closers
— Rotoprofessor (@Rotoprofessor) April 28, 2018
CHC: Morrow w/perfect IP (2 K) to lock down 6th SV. Has yet to allow R to go along with solid 1.00 WHIP & 9 K over 9.0 IP. He had been putting runners on, but at this point has proven no concerns about ability in role #MLB #FantasyBaseball #closers
— Rotoprofessor (@Rotoprofessor) April 28, 2018
TEX: Kela needs 5 pitches for SV. Three straight scoreless helps to put recent implosion behind him, so consider him safe (for now), Martin appears to be emerging as next up, just in case #MLB #FantasyBaseball #closers
— Rotoprofessor (@Rotoprofessor) April 28, 2018
CLE: Pitching in a non-SV Allen struggled (0.1 IP, 2 R, 2 H). It’s not an issue as they were the 1st runs he’s allowed all year. It happens, just be happy it didn’t result in a BSV. #MLB #FantasyBaseball #closers
— Rotoprofessor (@Rotoprofessor) April 28, 2018
PHI: Hunter gets HLD before tack on R costs Neris SV opp (1 H/3 K). It would appear that if latter stumbled, a healthy Hunter in line to get opportunity #MLB #FantasyBaseball #closers
— Rotoprofessor (@Rotoprofessor) April 28, 2018
MIA: Barraclough shows his control issues w/3 BB, but he had 2 K & escaped w/o damage. That remains the biggest question facing him & if he could ever limit the BB he may have already assumed closers role #MLB #FantasyBaseball #closers
— Rotoprofessor (@Rotoprofessor) April 28, 2018
COL: Davis allows 1 H/1 BB but w/2 K he escapes w/o damage & earns 10th SV. Just another ho hum performance as he continues to roll #MLB #FantasyBaseball #closers
— Rotoprofessor (@Rotoprofessor) April 28, 2018
NYY: Chapman earns SV and now has 4 SV in past five appearances. With 19 K vs. 4 BB, what’s not to like? #MLB #FantasyBaseball #closers
