SF Giants 2019 Preview (Sort of)

With the offseason still in a never-ending sinkhole till some big fish get fried on the Hot Stove MLB pan… San Francisco Giants fans can only move forward at this time by using their math skills. Let’s check out below who’s out and who’s in thus far!

10/29/18 – LF Hunter Pence elected free agency.
10/29/18 – LHP Derek Holland elected free agency.

10/29/18 – CF Gregor Blanco elected free agency.
10/29/18 – C Nick Hundley elected free agency.
11/30/18 – CF Gorkys Hernandez elected free agency. (Giants declined to offer contract)
11/30/18 – RHP Hunter Strickland elected free agency.
(Giants declined to offer contract)

Who’s In?

12/10/2018 – Giants claimed CF Mike Gerber off waivers from Detroit Tigers. (SF Giants Claim Mike Gerber)
12/21/2018 – Giants signed free agent SHP Pat Venditte.
1/5/2019 – Giants make a trade with the Baltimore Orioles (cash) for 2B Breyvic Valera.
1/14/19 – Giants re-sign free agent LHP Derek Holland. (SF Giants Ink Holland)

As of today it’s still unclear which direction the Giants are going in 2019. We keep hearing they might trade Madison Bumgarner, Will Smith, or Tony Watson. We’ve even heard they’re in the mix for SP Sonny Gray (now heading to the Reds).

With the little movement thus far for the Giants, I’m sure it’s safe to say that whatever moves they make moving forward won’t be enough to change this team into a championship team in 2019. However, we are still waiting for the betting predictions, it’s possible for them to improve and have a fighting chance for a Wildcard spot.

With this 2019 preview guide still pending, due to the lack of moves this offseason. I would be willing to bet that the Giants will be better in 2019, but I’m not saying I would bet the farm on it. I just believe that we’ll have something to cheer about!
