Super Kevin Sinfield

101 miles in 24 hours.

Hats off to Rugby League legend and current Leicester Tigers coach Kevin Sinfield, who this morning completed a run of 101 miles in 24 hours – the “Extra-Mile Challenge” – in aid of Motor Neurone Disease research.

Inspired by his close friend and former Leeds Rhinos team mate, Rob Burrow, who was diagnosed with MND in 2019, Sinfield set off from Leicester’s Welford Road yesterday morning, arriving at Headingley, Leeds, at breakfast time this morning.

A phenomenal effort from Sinfield – who last year also ran seven marathons in seven days, raining £2.7m in the process.

This year, as at the time of posting, Sinfield’s Extra-Mile Challenge has raised over £1m, with plenty more cash still to come in, I’m sure.

I have to say, seeing a “broken” Kevin Sinfield on TV this morning did put some of my own aches and pains into perspective. Although, at 41, he is considerably younger than me, I am pretty damned sure that, even when I was 41, running 100+ miles in 24 hours would have been a tad beyond my capabilities.
