LeBron James Sidelined Indefinitely Under NBA’s Coronavirus Health & Safety Protocols

Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James will be forced to miss several upcoming games, as he’s being sidelined indefinitely after entering the NBA’s coronavirus health and safety protocols.

Despite getting vaccinated back in September “for me and my family”, per the league’s protocols for this season, a fully vaccinated player is exempt from daily testing and must only undergo testing if he is symptomatic, comes into close contact with an individual who tests positive or is required to test in compliance with local governmental guidelines.

Players who return positive or inconclusive test results are required to isolate from their teammates and team facilities. The Lakers didn’t immediately reveal James’s testing status or offer a specific timeline for his return. There’s also the chance of a false-positive, which has happened more than a few times in the past.

Regardless, to get back on the court, fully vaccinated players who test positive but are asymptomatic must return two negative tests on separate days or wait 10 days after their positive test. So the Lakers could be without James for quite some time, depending on his COVID status and when he finally tests negative.

With the Lakers facing off against the Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Clippers, Boston Celtics and Memphis Grizzlies in the coming weeks, they could use James back on the court as soon as possible!
