Chargers Lose To The Raiders In An Overtime Nailbiter, Ending Their Season

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The Los Angeles Chargers faced off against the Las Vegas Raiders, and the stakes were high for both teams, as both the Chargers and Raiders knew they would make it into the postseason with a win. But there was another scenario as well, as both teams could mathematically enter the postseason with a tie. And that’s almost what ended up happening!

With just two minutes left in the fourth quarter, Herbert drove the offense 83 yards, pitching a 12-yard strike to Mike Williams to tie the score at 29-29 and send the game into overtime. As you can imagine, people were on the edge of their seats, and you could cut the tension with a knife. Would the Chargers and Raiders simply let the clock run out in a tie?

If so, they’d both move on to the postseason (at the expense of the Steelers, who won earlier in the afternoon), but it would have put the Raiders as the #7 seed, forcing them to travel to play the Chiefs, which wouldn’t be a good draw for them. Not to mention, it would have put sportsbooks like Olybet sports in an interesting situation.

And that nearly happened, with the Raiders’ interim coach, Rich Bisaccia, stating that his team contemplated letting the clock drain to finish with a tie. But the timeout changed their approach. “We were certainly talking about it on the sideline,” Bisaccia said.

But neither team was willing to lay down, instead playing their hearts out in OT, both teams trading overtime field goals and bringing the score to 32-32. Then on third-and-4 from the Chargers’ 39-yard line, Jacobs rushed for 10 yards, setting up Daniel Carlson’s 47-yard, walk-off field goal. With their win, the Raiders now face the #4 seed Cincinnati Bengals.

Needless to say, the Chargers finished their season with a bang, and it’s one game that people will be talking about for years to come.
