Tale of the Stranded Carnival Mexico Cruise Ship Just got Weirder - Arrests, Rotting Food - At least they had Spam!

Carnival Splendor update: arrests, passengers, and more are available in this strange story that unfolded this week.  Carnival Splendor is the name of a cruise ship which departed last Sunday from a port in California for a Mexican Riviera cruise.  The ship experienced a fire in the engine room, which rendered the ship powerless.

This meant that the ship was at a dead standstill in the sea, and also the hot water, air conditioning, and toilets did not work.

Food rotted, and passengers had to survive on Spam and Pop Tarts until a Mexican Tugboat was able to pull them back to a dock.

From San Diego, passengers aboard were given free return travel to their homes, a reimbursement of the cruise price, and also a voucher for a free cruise (as if anyone is going to want to get out on a boat again!)

However, Carnival Cruise Lines did not have to accommodate one person’s return trip – a woman was taken away with a felony warrant from Las Vegas for Grand Theft auto.  Two additional passengers were arrested, one by mistake and the other because of routine legal check on international cruise passengers.

Passengers said that the crew was fabulous and the food was awful. Passengers had to put up with the stench of rotting food and toilets that were backed up.

Could you imagine being stuck out there in the hot ocean, unable to take a hot shower? Yikes!
