Chupacabra poaching in Kentucky

DATELINE ZERO – Mark Cothren of Nelson County, Kentucky, shot this innocent “chupacabra” and no-one seems to care. NBC via Gawker:

Kentuckian Mark Cothren shot this hairless animal earlier in the week because he “feared what it was, since he did not recognize it.” Mark! It’s definitely a chupacabra. You know, a goat-sucker? They have them in Texas now, too.

Ugh. As I observed in an earlier post, it seems that Chupacabra has become a catch-all for unrecognizable creatures in South America, Mexico, and Texas. The original Chupacabra sighting wasn’t of a hairless dog or coyote. It was scaly and had spines down it’s back.

I wasn’t positive when I made that original observation, because I don’t follow the world of cryptozoology all that closely. But documentarian and paranormologist Joe Palermo took the time to confirm: “You are VERY correct about the over use of the term chupacabras.”
