In what can only be described as the most f’d up art project on planet earth, artist Stelios Arcadious, a Cypriot-born Australian, had a lab-grown human ear implanted into his left arm.

The ear is still growing–it’s the same type of method used to produce the Vacanti mouse, which used cow cartilage cells to grow what looked like a human ear on the back of a mouse.

According to the Daily Mail, Stelios said he thought art “should be more than simply illustrating ideas.”

Stelios says that the ear will keep growing, until it looks more like an actual ear, instead of the strange, ear-shaped mass it looks like now. Eventually, he says, he’d like to put a microphone inside of it, eventually using a bluetooth connection to listen to what his arm-ear “hears.”

Of course, couldn’t his regular ears just do that? No word on if he’s planning to implant anything else–like a second (fourth) ear on his other arm (so he can hear quadraphonically) or a penis on the palm of his hand (I’m certain that would come in handy somehow.)
