NeoCons and the "Fear of the Jews"

The Zionist Lobby opposed the appointment of Chuck Hagel as Secretary of Defense. Is this a show of independence on Obama’s part, or artifice to make him look independent?

When Chuck Hagel was first considered for Secretary of Defense, a mostly Jewish chorus of shills for Israel rose in protest.

These Neocons included Bill Kristol, in The Wall Street Journal, Jonathan S. Tobin and Alana Goodman of Commentary, Nathaniel Botwinick of National Review, etc.

Senator Lindsey Graham and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell went on CNN and NBC to denounce Hagel.

The Republican Jewish Coalition called Hagel’s nomination “a slap in the face for every American who is concerned about the safety of Israel.”

Joseph Klein of Front Page Magazine wrote an article entitled, “The Anti-War/Anti-Semitic Defense Chief.” Jonah Goldberg of the American Enterprise Institute denounced Hagel’s nomination as “a petty pick.”

Why?

In the past, Hagel, a Vietnam veteran, criticized the Israel Lobby for its bullying tactics.

“The Jewish Lobby intimidates a lot of people,” declared Hagel in 2008, “Most of the time members play it safe and adopt an ‘I’ll support Israel’ attitude. AIPAC comes knocking with a pro-Israel letter, and then you’ll get 80 to 90 senators on it. I don’t think I’ve ever signed one of the letters…I’m a United States senator. I’m not an Israeli senator.”

Moreover, Hagel does not see a war with Iran as necessary.”A military strike against Iran,” he said some years ago, “is not a viable, feasible, responsible option.”

To Bill Kristol, those statements classified Hagel as an “anti-Israel, pro-appeasement of Iran bona fides” who has “a record of consistent hostility to Israel over the last decades.”

While Hagel was getting positive reviews across the political landscape, Kristol reiterated his views saying that Hagel’s views on Iran is “dangerous” and he has a “distaste for Israel and the Jews,” which he had carried with him over the years.

Bret Stephens of the Wall Street Journal, after declaring that there is an anti-Jewish “odor” in Hagel’s statement, wrote that the “Jewish Lobby doesn’t exist.” Daniel Halper of the Weekly Standard quoted an alleged Republican declaring in an email, “Send us Hagel and we will make sure every American knows he is an anti-Semite.”

What does that actually mean? It means that this is the way the neoconservatives treat a decent patriot like Hagel. If you don’t align with the neoconservative dream, then you are in big trouble. What we are seeing here is that the Neoconservatives continues to be a fifth column in the United States.

For the Neoconservatives, Israel should come first, and the United States should be an afterthought.

What does this tell us? “Fear of the Jews” goes a long way. Even in the gospels we see that the disciples stayed at home after Jesus’ death for “fear of the Jews.”

The parents of the man born blind in John 9 did not want to tell the truth for “fear of the Jews.” Billy Graham apologized about what he said in the Oval Office to Nixon for “fear of the Jews.”

In the gospels, Christians used to be persecuted and even killed. In the twentieth century, a new weapon has been invented: “anti-Semitism.”

It doesn’t matter whether your parents are Jews (like Norman Finkelstein or John Mearsheimer); what matters is whether you are going to support the Neoconservative machine and the Zionist version of heaven on earth.

Jewish neoconservative Melanie Phillip calls this “The Jewish world.” In that particular world, massive death in the Middle East and massive debt in America are good.

It is another version of what Nietzsche postulated when any group or individual rejects Logos. The war in Iraq alone is going to cost at least three trillion dollars. Millions of people have suffered from that war. And what the Neocons are still telling us is that we need more of that.
