Grays, Thurrock Essex -1st December 2013

Witness Statement : This is my second report of the same light/object in the sky. First report is of static, intense light in the sky, 22nd or 23rd Nov 2013. This sighting is exactly the same, same position but 8/9 days later and an hour later. But this time I actually saw it “SWITCH ON”, it didn’t fly into view or float up from the ground, it just suddenly appeared. On my previous report I only uploaded one photo, this time I loaded all photos from both sightings, I just hope they got through. If you zoom in on the light, on a couple of the pics if looks as if the object changes shape. I don’t know if its an effect caused by the camera on the I-phone or air distortion or if it actually is changing shape. I used my monocular a few times to get a better look at it, it just looked like a brilliant white upside down “V”, like 2 fluorescent tubes joined at the top. Except at one time when, just for a split second, it changed from the upside down “V” shape to two parallel lights like “=” and then changed back to “V” again. The lights didn’t manouver from one shape to the other. It was as if one set of lights switched off and the other set switched on simultaneously and then changed back again. This light, as before, hasn’t moved an inch and I’ve been watching it tonight for at least 35 minutes again. Since the first sighting, 8 or 9 days ago, I’ve searched for it every evening, wondering if its a blimp or something. Even though there’s ‘NO WAY’ a blimp can stay in one solid position for any amount of time without drifting, let alone remain static and solid in the sky for at least 30-45 minutes without budging an inch. It’s impossible for me to say how far away the light is, it could be a mile, it could be ten miles, I don’t know. It’s approx SW of my position at around about 20 degrees above the horizon. I’m going to take more powerful Bino’s with me from now on, so if I see it again, I can get a better look, if it turns out to be something as innocent as a tethered advertising blimp (I’ve seen a few of them in the past, they ALL drift around a bit, this light doesn’t move an inch) I’m not too proud to admit I was mistaken and I’ll post another report if that’s the case. But if its not a tethered blimp (which I doubt because of how solid in the sky it is, and how high it seems to be) it is definately not a helicopter, aircraft, Chinese lantern, weather balloon, glowing swamp gas or a reflection in the clouds from a light on the ground. (Sorry about that little outburst, just tired of all the old cliche’s that get rolled out everytime something is seen) Oh, wait a minute, it could be the ‘Orford Ness lighthouse’, it got tired of floating around Rendelsham forest as some ‘expert’ claimed to explain away “THE BIG ONE”! Just look past that brainwashed ‘giggle factor’ that’s been drilled into society and use your own eyes and use that lump of grey matter between your ears for something more than watching X factor or I’m a celebrity.Ignorance is bliss I guess, there’s more to life than ‘life as we know it’!!!
