Devil's Horns & Badminton

The guys next door gave us the game Skyrim to play on our PS3, and when I saw how the game worked I was delighted. I can’t deal with the games that have constant combat and no story. This is more like a free form RPG game, which is more my style, and I have it set to “Novice” because my hand/eye coordination isn’t that of a teenage boy. And I can play it! Coolness.

This evening I made my first batch of “Devil’s Horns” (a.k.a. “Bacon-Wrapped Cream Cheese Filled Jalapenos”) from the first of my jalapeno harvest. My peppers are not as productive this year as last year– I learned many lessons every year I garden and one of the lessons from this year is to not let my husband take over the seedlings and greenhouse! He’s not good with delicate things that require patience and strategy. He’s more a “Do it NOW!” kind of guy.

Anyways, I took a few to all my neighbors (including Darcy & Tad, who have not had them before, thus breaking their vegetarian oath or something– I told them “the Devil’s Horns made me do it!”) and everyone made that face of perfect ecstasy because DAMN those are good! I hope I get a chance to make at least a couple more batches.

As the sun was setting and the heat abating, Gerick and I joined the guys in playing badminton of all things! I haven’t played that since I was maybe 14 or something– so its been a while. Luckily, its the type of game that takes very little practice to get a hang of, and we played without keeping score and sans net. It was more about how long we could all mutually keep the thing volleying back and forth.

Finally, we ended the evening by watching more from the Wonderworks Canadian 1980′s mini-series, Anne of Green Gables, which we love to watch once a year with Natasha & Kalden, and the guys have yet to see. So far, they’re enjoying it– and they get a lot more of our inside jokes when we quote lines from the series at one another.

All in all, I’d say it was a disgustingly wholesome American Sunday at White Gables. =^)
