DNC Frantic To Restore Normalcy

The Democratic National Convention wasn’t as crazy as the RNC the week before, other than that first day before they threatened persuaded Sanders to reign in his protesting followers. You could see the radical divide that had developed within the ranks. It was more than another typical win-lose nomination.

The rest of the week seemed dedicated to proving that “those passionate youngsters” were just a small thing and that they could be easily assimilated back into the Blue Collective. Resistance was, after all, futile…

There were some good speeches, and some pertinent points were made. Yes, Trump is dangerous and unAmerican. Yes, its great to have a woman as a nominee of a major party for president for the first time ever. Yes, its great to have a black president now. All good points, no question.

But I was both disappointed and not surprised to see the major effort made was towards reassuring themselves (and, I suppose, by extension, everyone else) that they were on top of things, in control, and restoring order to make this election sane and on point.

Mainly because its not normal and sane. There are some big ass problems going on and reassuring the masses of the intention to restore the status quo means sweeping massive problems under the rug yet again.

Which means Trump is going to win…

What I wanted to see, but didn’t hold my breath for, was a sincere apology from the DNC power-brokers about how they heavily favored Hilary Clinton from the beginning and didn’t play fair. I wanted to hear them say that they realized that the popularity of Sanders (AND Trump!) were due to too many people’s struggles being ignored for too long. I wanted to hear more than, “Nothing to worry about folks! Its all good! We’ve got it and this craziness is just an anomaly! Back to business as usual!”

The truth they are all still too blind in their hubris to see is that crazy IS the new normal! What they’re doing isn’t working for a growing segment of the population anymore and that has consequences beyond the current ‘anomaly’ of Sanders and Trump. What was considered normal for several decades is already falling into the dustbin of history.

Things will never be that version of normal again.
