RNC Was Crazy-- Deep Divides Evident

I popped in and out of the information outlets for the Republican National Convention, and in my life– and I’ve been following politics since 1980– this is the hands-down craziest GOP nomination ever!

So many things I could go into, from Rudy Guliani’s weird yelling rant (wtf was that?!) to the media storm over lines ‘stolen’ from Michelle Obama’s speech by Trump’s immigrant wife…

But what I find worth commenting upon is how difficult it was for the GOP to come together under Trump. He was confirmed as the nominee, but the power players were obviously not happy. Several moderates who are also heavy hitters were conspicuously absent from the convention, which is actually very telling.

Educated thoughtful people know Trump is a danger. Even those who follow along with the Republican program of getting the disenfranchised working and lower-middle class whites angry at everything are balking at this eventually inevitable step towards “scary far right extremism.”

There’s a deep divide between the rich power brokers and the rest of the nation. Their control over the population is fragmenting, and its tearing the conventional (ha! nice pun!) methods to shreds.

But its not just the Red side of the aisle… the Democratic National Convention is set to be just as overly volatile.

There are cracks in the carefully constructed mechanisms of power, and the rifts are widening.
