Coping Methods for Alien Abductions: Beating Imposed Amnesia with Signs & Triggers

`

One of the most frustrating things abductees deal with when it comes to being ‘one of the Chosen’ is the lack of memory of events and encounters. This is something few people understand and its one of the reasons why we aren’t taken seriously. Very few of our recollections have a smooth start-middle-end narrative to them. Instead, we have to piece together what’s going on from a few seconds or minutes of memory scattered across years worth of time. Its not surprising that there are many who doubt such contacts happen at all, given the lack of reporting from quality conscious memories.

The aliens make a concerted effort to prevent us from having a logical, consistent, understanding of what’s happening to us. We do our best using suspicious dream material, tiny segments of conscious memory, and by noticing odd marks and scars that spring up out of nowhere that have no explanation. If we’re very lucky, we get other people to share some parts of our experiences who also have bits of memory, and some recall may be corroborated. If we’re extraordinarily fortunate, other conscious people may witness us during an abduction. Maybe they see the UFOs over our house (Gerick had a friend who lived on top of a hill who regularly saw UFOs over his house when he was a teenager). Maybe they can report behavior we don’t remember (like getting up in the middle of the night, driving off, then returning.) Maybe neighbors call the police when they see you being escorted down an alley by aliens (which happened to me in August of 1992.)

Most of the time, however, we’re just trying to figure out what’s going on by cobbling together scattered fragments of memory and evidence, and there’s HUGE blank areas that go unanswered. This is not only frustrating, because we all want to know how much we can trust or should fear the aliens, but because it steals away from us the ability to make judgments on all sorts of things connected to alien abductions. We don’t like experiences that have no value, so we search desperately in order to assign meaning to what’s going on.

One problem, which I’ll talk about more later, is that some abductees feel compelled to fill in the blanks with something that has meaning. They may decide the aliens are connected to angels or other religious figures, or they may go the opposite way and declare them to be devils. They may think they’re being visited by ghosts or spirits of various kinds (especially if they have no conscious memories of seeing actual UFOs or aliens, I thought I was being tormented by demons until I saw a Grey in my room at age 16, then all the pieces fell into place.) They may think they’re being tested for some special spiritual or heroic destiny (and unremembered training for the future by the aliens can encourage this.) Human egos sometimes rush to fill in the gaps so that the abductee doesn’t feel like a helpless victim.

Lack of coherent memory, on top of ‘mental masking’ (making you see something other than what is there, like a dead relative instead of a grey) and ‘cover memories’ by the aliens (making you think you’re in a setting other than a ship with aliens) create gigantic areas of confusion. Lack of logical understanding of events, and the inability to make judgements about what to think and how to react means a LOT of abductees can get caught up in arguments about what the whole alien thing is all about with one another, with researchers, and even with themselves! They don’t know, so they feel compelled to guess, and then to believe based on that guess, which requires defending to others, and all of this muddies the waters and makes figuring out the truth even harder.

Therefore, after dealing with fear, the next thing you have to begin addressing is the imposed amnesia.

I say ‘imposed’ because this is not something we’re doing to ourselves, even from abject fear. It seems pretty clear by this juncture that aliens are able to artificially tweak our brains so that we either don’t process the experience neurologically to remember (perhaps recalling more like a dream– and we all know how well we remember all those dreams we have every single night– oh, wait…!) OR they have a way to go into our conscious recall and actively repress our memories after the fact (which I ironically actually recall happening a few times.)

This is just a guess, but I think one of the aliens’ back-up methods for dealing with us accidentally remembering (when they make us forget using mind control) is they put our brains into something of a dream-state. And– bonus! You’re suggestible like in a dream as well, so you shrug off a lot of strange things because the subconscious doesn’t judge like the conscious mind. I know they don’t do this on every single abduction, but its common enough to label as ‘standard operating procedure’ I think.

Many of you reading my reported memories of my experiences may have noticed I seem to have better recall than average. That’s not by accident! I’ve been stubbornly working to improve my memory of experiences since I was in my late teens. I’ve learned some techniques along the way that anyone can use for improved recall if they choose.

To begin with, there’s that whole “recall like a its a dream” issue…

You need to educate yourself on not only dreaming in general, but also on your specific, individual dream symbols and patterns. Over time, you’ll be able to tell the difference. One nice bonus is that I became able to do lucid dream work very skillfully and used that to address other psychological issues. (Which I’ll also be writing about in another blog!)

You’ll need to:

1. Get a dream journal and keep it up.

I already talked about writing down everything strange that happens as soon as you possibly can. Now I’m saying you need to keep a recorder or a notebook or something to record dreams as soon as you wake up. Make it a habit to record every dream as soon as you can. Most will be weird, silly, nonsensical… While some may be very emotional or symbolic. You’ll start to realize what your ‘normal’ dreams are like AND you’ll get used to the habit of paying attention to your dreams while you are actually dreaming.

Even if you’re only noting one or two dreams a month, its still worth writing them down!

2. Start reality testing for dreams during your waking life as a habit.

One way to help recall is to remind yourself to look up and around and test to see if you are in a dream during waking hours. Say, five to ten times a day. The habit will translate into your dreaming life and you’ll start to ‘leak’ your consciousness into your dreams, thus remembering more. If you start to forget dreams more, just bring back the reality check habit and recall will start to improve again.

It may seem a bit cumbersome, just like keeping a Dream Journal, but it takes less than three minutes a day to do this, total. The results are well worth this slight change of mental habit.

3. Learn to discern between a dream and reality using logic and observation, not subjective feelings.

I don’t just mean by how you feel when you look around on any given day. I mean– testable differences.

The greatest, easiest difference between a dream world and the real world is that dream worlds are constantly shifting. Nothing stays put, not even the words written on a page can stay consistent. But this makes reality testing super easy!

A. Look at something obvious– anything!

B. Look away from it.

C. Then look back at it.

In reality, it will be the same thing, looking the same way. In a dream, it will usually shift into something else entirely, or at least shift into a distortion of what it was before. In a dream, we take this constantly shifting reality for granted and don’t generally think about it. We follow along with an “and then… and then… and then…” sort of mentality, not paying attention to internal logistics or even to how cause and effect generally work. Its as if the past slides into the future without any reasoning. Dreams are all about staying in the present moment and so things not aligning with the past don’t matter much.

The simple, “look, look away, look back” test forces you to pay attention to that one RULE of dreams that just never works in reality. For a moment at least, you’ll be lucid enough to know what’s going on.

After you know you’re in a dream, you can start imposing your own intentions onto the dream and change the outcome of the dream, speak to dream characters, or have fun flying. Whatever you want. You may slide back out of lucidity into the haze of the dream, but the more you practice the better you’ll get. Soon, it’ll be second nature to check your dream and then take it over any way you like.

Unless you…

4. Take notice when you feel like you’re in a dream, but the rules aren’t following ‘dream rules.’

Give yourself permission to clang the alarms all through your system if you look around a room, look away, then look back and the room stays the exact same. You may feel dreamy, but if things seems to be running by ‘reality rules’ that’s when things get interesting! Pay attention and take the upset in the normal order seriously!

5. Leave messages to yourself with planned ‘signs’ you’ve determine beforehand, and make it as easy as possible.

~ If you’re in your own house, do something to physically change the environment! Push something over, or move something obviously so that later you can check to see if that object got moved. If you are with someone (which may be aliens) do this as secretly as you can, or they may have you restore the object to its original position. It may be easier to break something than to move it if the aliens are onto your reality testing bit. (In your own house they may be too distracted to pay attention. If they aren’t looking directly at you, you can get away with a lot!)

~ Leave brightly colored post-its in locations around your bedroom, living room, kitchen, etc where you can peel one off and stick it to the wall as a way to leave yourself a message that you were in a “dreamy reality” situation. You may even know at the time you’re with aliens and post it upside down or something to signal more information.

~ I also have certain objects that I purposely move if anything weird happens to signal to myself that aliens were around. Small stuffed animals, or little figures — anything that isn’t really noticeable to the aliens if you move it, but that you’ll know what it means later will work great. Around doorways or any other location where you might stop for a second should have a ‘plan’ to get a message to yourself.

~ If you find you’re on a ship or in some other area not known to you, make a sign using small scratches on your hand or face. I’ve used an X or + sign, also a V. It has to be easy to make, and not easily mistaken as an accident made during sleep. Like you always make an X on your third eye area of your forehead, or on your jaw or the middle back of your wrist. Decide ahead of time where to make it, and if you have a chance (there is often a lot of waiting on ships) make the sign. You may have to make it hard and fast before being caught.

The next day, when you are in full waking consciousness, just seeing the ‘signal’ to yourself may provoke some portion of memory. You may also wake up remembering you did something and be able to get up and check, thus determining whether your ‘dream’ was actually just an imposed mental state while in waking reality.

For a while I kept a pencil and pen by my bed, and I would write a capital letter A and circle it to signal to myself that They had been there. I found that sign to myself on the wall behind my bed, and also drawn on my left hand– as if I only had enough will and opportunity to make a signal just before going back to sleep. But it was enough, I got the message to my waking self many, many times! Sometimes more memories were triggered, sometimes I just saw the sign and mentally it was just a blank. Either way, I learned more of what was going on that I otherwise would not have known about.

The key is to have the signs decided ahead so if and when you find them, you’ll know what they mean.

6. Keep your signals secret so that only you know what they mean.

You don’t want to deal with other people teasing you or confusing you! Even if you have multiple abductees in the family, let everyone choose their own private signals. That way, there’s more of a chance to corroborate your memories during multiple-person abductions.

7. During abductions, allow yourself to be creative to find ways to get around the coming amnesia– because its coming!

Sometimes you’ll have experiences where you can talk and walk around and interact and this offers you an opportunity to not only leave signs but to try things to bust the amnesia that will be imposed later at the end of the abduction. I’ve looked into mirrors into my own eyes and told myself to REMEMBER something. Keep that memory trigger simple and powerful. “A strange man is in the house!” or “A ship just landed!” Anything to help you bring the rest of the experience, or even parts of it, back to yourself later.

~ If you have a close personal connection to a hybrid or human-looking alien, try BEGGING to be allowed to keep your memory! Make any excuse you can think of, explain how much you want to remember how wonderful the alien in question is– the more human ones are also the ones most likely to bend or break the rules. Use that whenever you can to persuade them, if that means falling on your knees and grabbing their legs and sobbing like your dog just died–? DO IT.

~ Also keep asking to be allowed to keep your memory. Even if only part of it (like the coming and going where there’s no information that can be really used against them) anything is better than nothing. Or don’t ask. Demand! Throw a temper tantrum and call them every dirty name you can think of– maybe use that as an excuse to break some things as another signal to yourself if you have crap you don’t care about lying around.

If the aliens catch on, I’ll switch up my reminder marks and methods, but I’m always trying to find ways around the imposed amnesia. The more you know, the less you have to guess, or believe, or wonder, or fear, and the better you can plan and think and react in later encounters. Over time, you will get better and better at being alert and acting intelligently during these events.

You’re stuck with alien abductions for your entire life, so you may as well use those long decades to learn how to deal with Them and to teach yourself how to get more memory from these ordeals. The more you remember, especially without use of hypnosis or as “maybe a dream”, the better you’ll be able to figure out the truth of what is going on and wiser your decisions will be down the line. At Spiral’s End: What’s Left After the Paradigm Shatters is the personal paranormal blog of a woman that follows not only current odd events in her life, but recounts incidents from her past, including lifelong alien abductions, encounters with ghosts and other spiritual beings, and premonitions from either waking visions or dreams. She reacts and speculates about the deeper meaning behind these incidents and wonders– what is the ultimate reality or intelligence behind it all?
