Kitten Cleo Taken To Vet For Seizures

It looks like she’ll be okay, but Cleo, one of the three kittens we adopted last fall, went into grand mal seizures this afternoon and Cat and I had to rush her to the vet, which is near-by luckily!

We don’t know if she ingested poison (we were outside) or if its a congenital issue– since she had a sibling who we put to sleep after multiple seizures after an accidental head injury. It was like a nightmare to see this kitty cat just jerking and shaking violently!

Before we left the vet she seemed back to normal, but they’re keeping her overnight and giving her tests and treating her for one possible poison (from old rat poison that used to be under the back deck) and we’ll see how it goes.

Poor thing! She was having fun outside and then just woke up in an oxygen chamber at the vet’s!

Needless to say, that sort of dominated my day. It was Cat’s cat, but she was SO upset and I sort of had to help her keep it together well enough to drive us to the vet, and then I explained what happened.

Meanwhile, I seem to completely disassociate whenever a crisis pops up. My emotions completely shut down when Cat started screaming, “No! No! No no no noooo!” I just went into automatic mode and got things taken care of…

Not that I’m complaining. Its nice to know I am capable of functioning if only when shit happens to other people. If it happens to me, I just lose it, but when others or pets are in danger or hurt, I just go numb and jump into action. I am glad I’m not completely useless at such times.

Fingers crossed she’s gonna be okay! She’s a sweet little thing and she and I had been playing for over an hour that day, so the idea that something is so wrong is very upsetting.
