47th Time Around the Sun

It’s not yet time for an epic birthday blog post. I think my 40th one was one of my most widely read blog posts EVER– like, over a thousand people read that one, I assume finding it by key word search.

I think our culture, being so youth-worshipping, really short-changes people in not letting them know how satisfying being older can be. Studies show that people tend to be happier in their 40s, 50s, and 60s than they ever were in youth! If it weren’t for age-related health issues, growing older would be more cool than any child’s birthday could ever be.

Meanwhile, today I relaxed, then went out to dinner and cocktails with Cat & Sharn. Now I’m happily tipsy and full. We’re going to have cake and ice cream tomorrow. We watched a movie and talked a little. I played with cats and we did a little shopping. Nothing extravagant, but just a nice day.

Tonight, I’m relaxing– staying up late and listening to music. Just enjoying a moment aside to allow myself to feel okay about me and my life. I have a lot of challenges before me, but I AM tackling them successfully.

Right now, I feel like I will be okay, and that is the best Birthday gift I could imagine!
