Dyad Moon Spiritual Spring Cleaning

Its the full moon tonight, the ‘Dyad Moon’ in my tradition (that I made up using research I did in my 20s) is the full moon time that is best for casting protections spells. I often used this full moon as my once a year cleansing, smudging, and warding for my house. A sort of spiritual spring cleaning.

Luckily, today– despite our overly cold, wet, spring– we had a day (the first one of the year) in the 70s, dry and sunny. So I could open up all the windows to air out the house after I used sage sticks to stink up the place. Bonus: Sage smoke has anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties! So I filled each floor of the house with smoke, opened the windows, and used my hexenbesom (witch’s broom) to sweep out all the dirty, stagnant, negative energy. Then I warded all doors, windows, fireplaces, and fan vents with a special oil I got from a witch I knew who did bang up potions (it has clove oil and patouli in it, among other things.) All set!

Cat has never had issues with spirits, ghosts, fae, or any other ghouli in her life, nor has her mother. However, having me as a roomie may change that someday. Eventually, it seems every place I live longer than a year starts to become ‘haunted’ off and on as the membrane in the ‘veil between worlds’ gets thinned out by repeated alien visits. I figure it can’t hurt to use a little preventative medicine, right?

After all that energy work, I’m quite drained– but I must admit the house seems lighter and brighter than before. Sage smoke does that for some reason. It is really rather fascinating, how just some smoke and oil (and gestures and words…) can implement such a shift in the feeling of a house.

I got permission from Cat and Sharn first, of course. They were happy to have it done. When they get home, we’re all getting smudged and anointed for our bodies, now that our home is taken care of for the next year.
