Multiplicity Tests, Part 1
Recording more self-work through Rita Carter’s Multiplicity book…
Apparently, I score totally average when it comes to how “multiple” I am. (Score– 22, average being 10 to 30.) Less than 10 means you’re an extremely limited person, but above 30 (out of possible 40) means you’re probably a little too dissociative. I have very integrated memories across the board– EXCEPT for a few brief instances of extreme trauma in which I recovered my memory later– usually less than a year later. Nothing too extreme, so I’m surprised a little, given my background.
Then again, that ‘narrative’ I keep going through my constant self-reflection and writing probably explains a great deal of that. When I write, ALL my ‘selves’ contribute. (Even the less than admirable ones, which have created WAY too much drama over the years for sure!)
Then you test all the roles or various parts of yourself that obviously come out and compare them in a scientific personality test– the one I first saw in OMNI magazine with Open-minded vs Traditional, Extravert vs Introvert, Stable vs Neurotic, Friendly vs Antisocial, and Conscientious vs. Careless. The test shows a lay out on a chart of several lines and circles and you can see clearly where types overlap and where they diverge, so you can determine whether you are a:
1. Single Major (just one integrated personality that doesn’t diverge and isn’t adaptable)
2. Double Major (two major personalities– like “home” and “school/work” that trade off pretty evenly)
3. Major w/ Minor (one main personality and one that comes out only on special occasions– like a “party self”)
4. Major w/ Multiple Minors (one main and several lesser selves that come out for many types of circumstances)
5. Multiple Minors Only (one self for each special occasion, pretty flighty and unreliable)
6. Multiple Majors and Minors (a few major personalities that take on roles plus several minor selves for less frequent occasions)
I DID come out as being # 6 — multiple major and minor personalities that pretty much covered almost every aspect of personality that one could imagine EXCEPT, the one area I and all my selves seem to agree is NONE of us are very Traditional/Conservative. The only ones who show a little of that are the remnants of my parents (who were themselves weirdos) and society’s messages.
Later this week, I’ll be assigning some of the personalities I’ve met in IFS their roles according to the book, Multiplicity!
