Cat & I Reach An Agreement

I actually felt pretty good today. I’m behind on my writing, but I was able to catch up several other issues that require me to be physically active, including running around doing errands with Cat. I picked up my latest batch of medications and some groceries and we got things for the chickens, etc.

At one point, we just sat next to each other and talked about the future. Normally, this is a super scary thing for Cat, and very uncomfortable for me. However, we managed to get down to what was really bothering both of us.

Do we do things THIS way or THAT way–? It seemed like it had to be a choice. One way was better– maybe.

I thought about it and came up with– why don’t we hedge our bets and try BOTH options, using shared resources, etc…?

Cat considered my idea and said it was worth a try. In any event, she didn’t feel like she might pick the wrong option and fail somehow. We both had more breathing room and a fail-safe Plan B if one option proves to be disappointing. That seemed to ease the tension considerably. It seemed so obvious, why didn’t we think of this before?

(Sorry if this seems obscure, but I’m trying to communicate the essence of our dispute without destroying privacy.)

Afterwards, we both felt much better. No more agonizing debates over what options will work best. Trying both meant a little more maneuvering, but less fear regarding making a mistake and less pressure on the hows and whens for taking action. Cat was actually rather cheerful and lively, which she has rarely been lately (for good reason) and I felt like I could let go of worrying just a little.
